Nicolas Cage Reveals He Got Digitally Scanned for Spider-Man Noir: “They’re just going to steal my body and do whatever they want with”

More than a year its been rumored that Amazon is developing a project focusing on Spider-Man Noir. This series would focus on an older, more weathered character, quite different from Peter Parker. Then a couple of months ago we got a confirmation that the show is indeed in development and that Nicolas Cage is set to star in it, playing the titular character, a character he voiced in the ‘Spider-Verse’ franchise.

The project so far involves notable names from the industry, including producers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal.

The project does sound promising and Nicolas Cage recently sat down with New Yorker to comment on it. He revealed some details regarding the show and opened up about his fears regarding AI.

Cage described the Spider-Man Noir project as an eight-episode Pop-art mashup akin to a Lichtenstein painting, featuring some sparkle.

I don’t like violence. I don’t want to play people who are hurting people. One of the things that I like about this potential show is that it’s fantasy, It’s not really people beating people up. Monsters are involved.

Cage revealed that he had to be digitally scanned for the project, and he admitted that he is terrified of this new technology and has really valid fears regarding what will happen to his likeness after he is dead. Cage has raised some pretty valid concerns that have been plaguing the industry for quite a few years now at this point – is art going to be replaced by AI?

I have to slip out after this to go get a scan done for the show, and then also for the movie I’m doing after the show. Two scans in one day! […] They have to put me in a computer and match my eye color and change — I don’t know. They’re just going to steal my body and do whatever they want with it via digital AI. … God, I hope not AI. I’m terrified of that. I’ve been very vocal about it. … And it makes me wonder, you know, where will the truth of the artists end up? Is it going to be replaced? Is it going to be transmogrified? Where’s the heartbeat going to be? I mean, what are you going to do with my body and my face when I’m dead? I don’t want you to do anything with it!

The AI in the industry seems to be a “sink or swim” situation where you are either big enough to negotiate deals or you are simply replaced by a cheaper alternative.
