Yesterday, the first teaser trailer for ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ was released, and the first reactions are – extremely polarizing. This is Sam Wilson’s first standalone movie as Captain America and the movie spent quite a lot of time in development hell, going through a series of extensive and expensive reshoots.

The trailer showcased action, Thunderbolt Ross as Red Hulk, the first look at Captain America in action, Falcon, and plenty of other things to be really excited about. However, it seems that most of the negative reactions to the movie have nothing to do with the footage that we’ve seen.

First, let’s deal with the positive reactions. Fans are extremely excited to see how the movie will play with the fact that Sam Wilson is not a super soldier, and how he will deal with Red Hulk. Red Hulk alone was something that fans have been asking for for years at this point.

And now, the negative reactions. The majority of negative reactions revolve around the fact that Sabra/Ruth was kept in the movie. The character is played by Shira Hass, but the reason why fans are threatening to boycott the movie over the character you’ve probably never even heard of is due to the character’s comic background. You see Sabra is an Israeli superheroine and Mossad Agent who possesses enhanced strength, speed, agility, and senses due to genetic enhancements. The keyword being, Mossad Agent…

For several months now, since Sabra was seen on the set of ‘Captain America’ fans have been calling for Marvel Studios to remove her. In the movie Sabra will be a high-ranking official within the US government and has the trust of President Ross, she is also a former Black Widow according to her short bio.

Due to the ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israeli, many fans don’t consider her to be an appropriate addition to the movie, these are just some of the negative reactions and there are hundreds of them online:

The sad thing is, that some of the comments are correct in that hatred toward Sabra will most likely generate too much negative publicity around the movie and Wilson’s first outing as Captain America, leading the fans to review-bomb the movie.
