Marvel Studios is gearing up to bring the Champions to the screen. Recent reports have suggested that they’ve been searching for a showrunner for the project, and industry insider Daniel Richtman says the search is nearly complete.
The Champions team, made up of popular younger heroes like Ms. Marvel, Miles Morales (Spider-Man), and Nova, has become a fan favorite in recent years. Marvel is now ready to introduce them to an even wider audience with this upcoming series.
It seems Marvel has shifted focus from a Young Avengers project to Champions. This could be because the original Young Avengers no longer fit the “young” label, so rebranding as the Champions might make the team feel more fresh and exciting.
Filming for Champions could start in 2026, with a release planned after Secret Wars. Richtman suggests a showrunner could be hired soon, hinting that Champions will be a major part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s future.
As Marvel expands its universe, the Champions could bring new stories and characters to the table. While details about the cast and storyline are still under wraps, the search for a showrunner shows development is moving forward.
We’ll keep you updated on this exciting project!
