Channing Tatum Hints at His Return as Gambit

Deadpool & Wolverine, currently showing in theaters and starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, is widely regarded by fans as the most anticipated film of the year. After years of waiting, fans can finally see these two iconic characters share the big screen.

The movie, which is enjoying tremendous success worldwide, is packed with Easter eggs and cameos—something fans expected given the film’s multiversal theme. While most of these cameos have already been discovered and analyzed, there’s always more to uncover, especially when it comes to certain characters.

In this report, we’ll be focusing on Gambit, the beloved X-Men character, who made a cameo appearance in the film portrayed by Channing Tatum. Although this cameo doesn’t necessarily indicate future developments, Tatum has some exciting news for fans eager to see him reprise the role.

You might recall that Channing Tatum was originally slated to star in a solo Gambit movie years ago, but the project was ultimately scrapped, leaving both Tatum and fans disappointed. Many were eager to see Tatum take on the role in a dedicated film. However, those who have seen Deadpool & Wolverine know that Tatum did make an appearance as Gambit in a cameo, complete with a comic-accurate costume, much to the delight of fans.

While such cameos typically don’t lead to much, many fans are now hoping that Tatum will reprise the role in a revived version of the solo Gambit movie. Although the MCU isn’t known for making decisions based purely on fan desires, it seems Tatum is actively pushing to bring this project to life.

I’m not going to bore everybody with what we were trying to do with our [Gambit] film, but it was an origin story that we were doing. We were trying to make something that actually would be in the world and could play with Deadpool. You put Deadpool in a lot of scenes with other MCU characters, and he could possibly just make fun of them the entire time. But he wouldn’t, because Ryan loves comics and he loves Marvel.

I would do pretty much any version of Gambit, to be honest. I think we will, hopefully. At least I’m talking to Kevin, and I just want to be in any MCU stuff. To get to dress up again as him would be enough. I felt like [Deadpool & Wolverine] was truly a make-a-wish sort of thing that my friend did for me. It was like, “Come in, and I’ll let you dress up as your favorite superhero character.” I was having an out-of-body experience just standing next to Hugh. It was like, “Oh, my God, there’s Wolverine. There’s Blade! Elektra – everyone’s here, this is wild.”

Your mouth to God’s ears, friend. Help me will it into existence.
