Charlie Cox Wants One Thing in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ That Netflix Desperately Wanted To Avoid

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is one of the most exciting upcoming MCU projects. What initially started as a reboot of the Netflix show eventually was transformed into a continuation of the sort, with much of the all cast returning – this time in the MCU.

‘Daredevil’ had three seasons on Netflix. The show premiered on April 10, 2015, and concluded with its third season on October 19, 2018. To this day, the show is the gold standard for street-level superheroes.

Much of the praise that the show received was related to action sequences. The action truly was a standout aspect of the show, receiving widespread acclaim for choreography, intensity, and realism. Realism was the aspect that was mostly appreciated as we could see Daredevil sometimes making mistakes and the physical toll that the fights left on his character – after all, he is nowhere near as powerful as some other established superheroes in the Marvel Universe.

One of the most notable features is the show’s use of long, continuous takes for its action sequences, which became a hallmark. The most famous example is the hallway fight scene in Season 1, Episode 2, where Daredevil battles a group of thugs in a single continuous shot – something that Cox already teased will also be included in ‘Born Again.’

The fight scenes primarily relied on practical effects, choreography, and stunt work rather than extensive CGI, and it shows! However, it seems that Charlie Cox would like to change this just a tiny bit in the upcoming ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’

In an interview with GQ the star of the show expressed his wish to have “just a little bit” of CGI in ‘Born Again.’ This is understandable considering that Daredevil might not be Captain Marvel-level strong or agile, but he is still an enhanced human. This means that some action scenes required of him and stunt doubles are almost impossible to perform if they are to be comic-accurate:

I guess what I would say is: hopefully, on the Disney+ show, Born Again, we will be able to use—and I hope that we do it sparingly, I believe it should be used sparingly—but we’ll hopefully be able to use a tiny bit more CGI in the action sequences.

Just to emphasize his gymnastic abilities that have been basically impossible to do. It really should be sparingly. I don’t believe there should be complete action sequences that are almost all computer-generated.

Some fans agreed with Cox, and some fans truly considered his take controversial, especially since there is a growing desire among fans to rely on practical effects and realism in the future of the superhero genre, as the CGI wasn’t all that good (looking at you M.O.D.O.K.) in the last couple of MCU projects.
