Chris Evans Returns in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ – But What If He’s Not a Hero, But the MCU’s Most Dangerous Villain?

Share:

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is currently the most highly anticipated MCU movie. Following the resolution of Infinity Saga, it’s the first movie that will gather the new iteration of Avengers, and they will face one of the most popular villains, Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

It seems that RDJ is not the only star bound to make a great comeback as it was recently reported by Variety that Chris Evans is slated to appear in ‘Doomsday’ – the kicker is, that his role is unknown.

All logic dictates that Evans will be back as Captain America, but….his “return” might come with a twist.

Now hear us out. Steve Rogers is not dead in the MCU, he is merely retired as he decided to spend his life with Peggy in an alternate timeline. The mantle of Captain America was passed onto Sam Wilson, who is set to debut in his first solo movie on February 14, 2025.

It seems unlikely that the MCU will revisit Rogers’ Captain America story with Sam Wilson struggling to gain footing in the MCU. Evans most likely won’t play Captain America or a variant of Captain America, but rather Beyonder – he will only LOOK like Captain America.

Several weeks ago we reported on the rumor that some major casting was underway and we assumed that the studio is currently casting Beyonder. If you take into account the original ‘Secret Wars’ storyline and the ‘Time Runs Out’ storyline upon which Doomsday will presumably be based on.

The rumors that Beyonder will be in the movie are nothing new, as soon as ‘Secret Wars’ was announced it was reported by insiders that Beyonder will ultimately be revealed as the main villain.

It’s possible that in Doomsday, Chris Evans will actually play Beyonder who just shape-shifted himself to look like Captain America – after all it happened in the comics. In ‘Secret Wars II,’ months after arriving on Earth, the Beyonder took on a physical form based on various participants from the first “secret war” to better understand humanity.

He adopted the body of the Molecule Man and Captain America and sought to experience everything humanity has to offer in this forms. He sought wealth, pleasure, and power over others but everything felt bland after some time.

Eventually, the Beyonder took control of Earth’s minds and matter but soon grew dissatisfied with ruling and freed everyone, erasing memories of his actions except for a few vague recollections.

It’s possible that the MCU will follow this storyline and introduce Chris Evans in ‘Doomsday’ as Beyonder and then the real Beyonder will reveal his “real” face in ‘Secret Wars.’

It’s certainly an interesting theory, and we can’t wait to see how it plays out. It has a lot of potential to be emotionally charged if the former Avengers recognize the face, which will also lead them to do stupid things, as they might not be aware that Beyonder walks among them as he is currently not in the MCU.
