‘Civil War 2’? There’s a Good Chance We See RDJ and Chris Evans Fight Again in the MCU – But as Different Characters

MCU is currently in the middle of Multiverse Saga. Fans received this next chapter with kind of mixed reactions due to sometimes over-complicated premises and due to the notion that in the Multiverse there are no consequences.

However that same concept, and the concept of variants offers plenty of exciting opportunities to tell the same stories but from a different perspective and with a different outcome, something that ‘What If…?’ aimed to prove.

Now as far as Multiverse is concerned, things get confusing with variants, we have two versions of Thanos in the MCU, two of Gamora, and two of Loki, and RDJ is playing both Iron Man and Doctor Doom in the MCU.

The recent release of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ also introduced Human Torch, played by Chris Evans who also plays Captain America. You can see where I’m going with this. Although confusing, it also offers us ironically to see a drastically different version of the Civil War play out in the MCU. Once again with RDJ and Chris Evans on the opposing sides.

With the announcement of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ there’s a very real possibility that MCU will attempt to adapt ‘Time Runs Out’ and ‘Secret Wars’ storylines. In ‘Time Runs Out’ multiple realities are colliding through incursions, threatening to destroy them all.

MCU could very easily adapt this since now we know that the Sacred Timeline exists alongside other timelines, including Deadpool’s Earth-10005, now Human Torch is dead in that timeline or in the Void to be exact, but once again the existence of Variants doesn’t rule out of his resurrection.

In any case, Doctor Doom is the only one who can solve this issue, he takes over the powers of Beyonder and after all of the realities are destroyed he manages to create a reality that is a patchwork of all different realities – Battleworld. In the Battleworld, different factions and variants exist, including alternative Fantastic Four, Avengers, and X-Men all from different realities trying to make sense of things.

Doom rules Battleworld as God-emperor with an iron fist, surrounded by sycophants, Evans’ Torch could easily find himself opposing RDJ’s Doom in this scenario, doubting that something else is taking place in the Battleworld and that Doom is not merely the solution to their problem, but one of the main causes. The main conflict would be drastically different than what we’ve seen in the MCU, but it would be kind of funny and interesting to see the fight play out once again.
