Clémence Poésy Joins Apple TV+’s 10-Episode Sci-Fi Drama ‘Neuromancer’ as Marie-France Tessier
Apple TV+ is bringing William Gibson’s famous sci-fi novel “Neuromancer” to life as a 10-episode drama, and Clémence Poésy is the newest actor to join the cast. She will star alongside Callum Turner, Brianna Middleton, Joseph Lee, and Mark Strong in this adaptation of the 1984 book that helped create the cyberpunk genre.
The series centers on Case, played by Turner, a skilled but troubled hacker. He teams up with Molly, portrayed by Middleton, a tough assassin with mirrored eyes. Together, they take on a dangerous job: stealing secrets from a powerful corporate family and hiding dark truths.
Poésy will take on the role of Marie-France Tessier, a character who provides vital information to Case about a mysterious AI called Wintermute. “Lady 3Jane Marie-France Tessier-Ashpool,” as she’s fully named in the book, is a clone and a smart information broker tied to the French side of the story.
Poésy is no stranger to big projects. She’s known for playing Isabelle Carriere in “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” and Fleur Delacour in the Harry Potter films. She’s also appeared in movies like “In Bruges,” “127 Hours,” and “Tenet.” Plus, she’s worked with Apple TV+ before, starring as Stella Ransome in “The Essex Serpent.”
Now, she’s stepping into “Neuromancer,” which could become a bigger hit thanks to the popularity of Gibson’s novel and its two sequels, “Count Zero” and “Mona Lisa Overdrive.”
The show is led by Graham Roland, who created it with JD Dillard and will act as a showrunner. Dillard is directing the first episode. They’re also executive producers, joined by Gibson himself, along with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell from Skydance Television.
Drake’s DreamCrew Entertainment, with Adel “Future” Nur and Jason Shrier, is part of the production too, alongside Anonymous Content, Zack Hayden, and Apple Studios. Skydance Television teams up with Anonymous Content and Apple Studios to make it all happen.
Other key characters include Armitage, played by Mark Strong, a shadowy figure who hires Case and Molly, and Hideo, portrayed by Joseph Lee, a professional bodyguard. “Neuromancer” follows Case as he gets pulled into a risky world of digital spying and crime, with Tessier’s knowledge helping him untangle the AI’s plans.
Gibson’s book won major awards like the Hugo, Nebula, and Philip K. Dick Awards after its release. While people have tried to turn it into a movie before, those plans never worked out. Now, Apple TV+ is giving it a fresh shot as a series, bringing Poésy and the rest of the cast together to tell this classic story in a new way.
