Confirmed: ‘The Boys’ Season 4 Achieves Massive Viewership Success

The fourth season of The Boys premiered on June 13, 2024, and concluded on July 18, 2024, with an epic final episode that has everyone buzzing. The series earned a Certified Fresh rating, despite being review-bombed by critics and toxic fans due to its political satire. The production team, however, remained unfazed and openly criticized these detractors, with creator Eric Kripke even telling them to stop watching the show.

Some fans worried that these comments might affect the show’s ratings, and indeed, the ratings fluctuated throughout the season. The premiere drew more viewers than the previous season, and saw a dip mid-season, but viewership surged again for the finale.

Now that the season has officially concluded, we can assess the overall ratings. Ratings are a strong indicator of a season’s quality, and based on the ratings for Season 4 of The Boys, we can officially confirm that it has been a massive success!

According to Amazon, the streaming service reported that the fourth season, which premiered with three episodes on June 13 and concluded with an explosive finale on July 18, surpassed the total viewership of Season 3. This is notable since Season 3 has already been more successful than previous seasons.

Amazon’s internal data shows that The Boys Season 4 attracted over 55 million viewers since its premiere, a 20% increase compared to Season 3 within the first 39 days post-premiere. Additionally, 60% of the audience for Season 4 came from outside the US, with strong viewership in the UK, Brazil, India, Germany, Canada, France, Mexico, Spain, and Italy. This suggests that global audiences are more entertained by Kripke’s satire of American politics than American viewers.

It has also been confirmed that The Boys Season 4 reached No. 1 on Prime Video in over 170 countries. It became Amazon’s fourth most-viewed TV season of all time and the second most-viewed returning season, surpassed only by Reacher Season 2.

All of this supports what we’ve been saying in recent weeks: The Boys Season 4 is one of the best seasons of the series so far. The decision by Kripke and his team to push the boundaries of political satire was well-received by fans, officially making the season a success.
