Could This ‘American Pie’ Star Be the Perfect Choice for Booster Gold?

Booster Gold is one of DC’s more unconventional superheroes. While he may not be a mainstream or top-tier character, Booster Gold has built a solid legacy in DC comics and enjoys a loyal fan base, who always hope to see him portrayed accurately, no matter the adaptation.

With that in mind, let’s turn to the upcoming Booster Gold movie, set to be a part of the DCU, starring Kumail Nanjiani in the lead role. This casting choice didn’t exactly thrill fans, as Nanjiani doesn’t quite match Booster Gold’s iconic appearance.

Though it’s unlikely that fans’ reactions will sway James Gunn’s decision, a resurfaced interview reveals that another actor had expressed interest in the role, showing that Gunn did have some intriguing alternatives to consider.

The interview in question, while not particularly old—dating back to late 2023—has resurfaced amid ongoing dissatisfaction among some fans over the casting for Booster Gold. Many hoped for a more comic-accurate choice, such as a blonde actor like Ryan Gosling, but it seems that won’t be happening. However, this interview does reveal that a blonde actor did, in fact, offer himself up for the role.

The actor in question is Sean William Scott, best known for his iconic role as Stifler in American Pie, as well as his part in the cult classic comedy Dude, Where’s My Car?, alongside Ashton Kutcher. During an interview with ComicBook.com, Scott was asked which comic book character he’d most like to portray, and his response was quite interesting:

“I definitely would. I’d love to. I think it’d be fun to do a comic book movie. I think the first character that came to mind was — Booster Gold could be very fun, but I think I’m too old for it… I don’t know if he’s supposed to be younger, but that character, I was like ‘That I could.’ I just don’t remember his age, but it was like ‘That’s a great character. Come on, James Gunn! Let’s go!”

As you can see, Sean William Scott didn’t hold back in expressing his interest in playing Booster Gold, even calling out James Gunn directly to make it happen.
