Could Timothée Chalamet Be Making His Superhero Movie Debut?: “If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it”

While die-hard fans may primarily remember Timothée Chalamet for his early role in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, the actor is now a household name and in high demand across Hollywood.

Following his standout performances in Oscar-nominated films like Lady Bird, Call Me by Your Name, and Little Women, Chalamet has landed major roles in blockbuster projects. His latest endeavors, Dune and Wonka, have both achieved significant success.

Given his popularity, it’s no surprise that Chalamet can afford to be selective with his projects. When you’re in such high demand, you have the luxury of choosing roles without the pressure of accepting just any offer.

In this context, Chalamet was recently asked by The New York Times about the possibility of appearing in a superhero film—a genre he has yet to explore. Fans are eager to see him in both the MCU and the DCU. So, could this happen? Keep reading to find out!

Timothée Chalamet is one of the most recognizable names in Hollywood; among male actors, he holds a status similar to that of Zendaya among female stars.

It’s no wonder fans often ship them as a potential couple, even though Zendaya is currently dating Tom Holland and Chalamet is with Kylie Jenner. But that’s a topic for another article.

Chalamet’s career is on a remarkable rise, and following the success of Dune: Part Two, he is gearing up to work on the third and final installment of Villeneuve’s trilogy. While Dune has become a pop culture phenomenon, it is not a superhero film.

Despite his impressive body of work, including Wonka, Chalamet has yet to portray a superhero on the big screen; his brief appearance as Robin in a commercial was purely a parody.

With that in mind, during an interview with The New York Times, the young actor was asked about the possibility of appearing in a superhero movie, and here’s what he had to say:

It’s been a rough year for superhero movies. This story asks us to think harder about heroes, chosen ones, saviors. Timothée, is it fair to assume that if you wanted to play a superhero, you’ve had opportunities?

CHALAMET Well, Leonardo DiCaprio said to me, “No superhero movies, no hard drugs.” Which I thought was very good.

VILLENEUVE Which one?

CHALAMET I follow them both! But the movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, “The Dark Knight.” If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it.

Leonardo DiCaprio is another actor who has shied away from superhero roles, although there were rumors that he was considered for the Riddler in Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises before Bane was ultimately chosen as the main villain.

While DiCaprio’s stance on superhero films doesn’t surprise us, we believe Timothée Chalamet could thrive in that genre, especially if he teams up with a talented director and writer, such as Matt Reeves. If a compelling script comes along, we’d love to see the young actor take on a superhero role.
