Dafne Keen Confirms Her Character in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Is the Same One as in ‘Logan’, but How Did She End up in Void?

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ was released over a week ago, and the movie is smashing box-office records while being a critical success. The movie marked Wolverine’s and Deadpool’s foray into the MCU but also the return of legacy Marvel characters such as Garner’s Elektra, Snipes’ Blade, and Evans’ Human Torch.

One of the legacy characters related to the Fox X-Men franchise was X-23 portrayed by X-23. Keen denied several times that she was in the movie, only for her role to be revealed a few days before the movie was set to premiere worldwide.

It made all the sense in the world for X-23 to be in the movie considering her significant role in ‘Logan’ released in 2017 and the fact that the events of the movie are heavily referenced in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ The latest ‘Deadpool’ installment sees Keen’s X-23 all grown up, and the actress herself confirmed that the version we’ve seen in the MCU is the same version we’ve seen in ‘Logan’ in her latest appearance on Phase Zero.

I was like, so how long has it been, am I a variant, what’s going on and they were like: “not variant, you went along with kids for a few years and then you got zapped and you’ve been in the TVA for a few years now. You lost your accent beacuse you were in America for a while and like Canada and stuff, you’ve lost your accent, you’re a very intelligent kid, you learned English while you were with Logan, like, you’re clever. To you, you are Logan’s Laura and so seeing this person is whoa this is my dad, who I haven’t seen in years.”

Keen elaborated on what happened to the character between the events of ‘Logan’ and ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ but she did not elaborate on why she was “Zapped” by the TVA in the first place.

Considering the context of the movie, we can assume that like all other Legacy characters, she was a threat to Mr. Paradox’s plan to annihilate reality quickly and efficiently, so she had to be removed from that timeline and placed in the Void, where pretty much any superhero who posed potential danger to his plans ended up. The Void in the movie served as some sort of containment zone in which Cassandra Nova had a deal with Paradox to oversee it in exchange for total rule.

Keen stated in the interview that she would love to reprise her role in future projects, and fans are amassing numbers online petitioning for her to be the Wolverine of the MCU.
