A big surprise is coming to You and Idol Precure♪! The show’s official website just dropped some exciting news: Daisuke Sakuma from the idol group Snow Man will be joining the cast. He’s set to voice Kaito Hibiki, a legendary idol, making his first appearance in episode four. Fans can catch his debut this Sunday!

The anime kicked off on February 2 at 8:30 a.m. on ABC TV, TV Asahi, and other channels across Japan. Crunchyroll is also streaming it as new episodes air. The story follows Uta Sakura, a middle schooler who dreams of singing. One day, while out walking her dog, she stumbles upon a mysterious peach-like object in the river.

Inside, she finds Purirun, a cute fairy searching for the legendary Idol Precure. When an evil group called the Chokkiri gang steals the town’s sparkle, Uta makes a bold declaration: ‘I want to shine! With my song!’ That’s when she transforms into Cure Idol.

The show is directed by Chiaki Kon, known for Eiga HappinessCharge PreCure! and Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal. The series scripts are in the hands of Yoichi Kato, whose work includes Aikatsu! and Wonderful Precure! The Movie!. Miho Sugimoto is leading character design, with Rie Iida and Tong Nian Chen handling the art direction.

Kumiko Yanagisawa is overseeing the color design. Erika Fukasawa and Misaki Umase are composing the music, both having worked on big projects like Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure and Kaina of the Great Snow Sea.

The show’s music lineup is just as packed with talent. Chihaya Yoshitake and Ami Ishii are back from Wonderful Precure! to perform the opening theme, ‘Kimi to Idol Precure♪ Light Up!’. Meanwhile, Akane Kumada, making her Precure debut, joins them. As for the ending song, the three main Precures—Cure Idol, Cure Wink, and Cure Kyun-Kyun—sing ‘Trio Dreams’ in character.

And that’s not all! A movie adaptation of You and Idol Precure♪ is already in the works. While the title is still tentative, it’s expected to hit theaters this fall. With the anime gaining momentum and new surprises like Sakuma’s casting, there’s plenty to look forward to!
