Daisy Ridley recently hinted at exciting developments for her character, Rey, in the Star Wars universe. In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Ridley shared her mixed feelings of excitement and nervousness about reprising Rey, a role she last portrayed in 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
She reflected on how returning to Rey after experiencing personal and professional growth could be both “scary” and “interesting.”
Ridley’s comments hint that Star Wars: New Jedi Order could be the start of a new movie series. While still untitled, the project is in development with Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy directing and formerly had Steven Knight as writer.
Ridley also hinted at the possibility of multiple films, casually mentioning a ‘new one/new ones’ that could continue Rey’s journey.
This potential series might dive into new chapters as direct sequels to the original saga, potentially taking shape as Episodes X through XII.
Ridley’s previous hints about the project’s shifting direction, even amid the screenwriter’s departure, have only fueled speculation.
These clues suggest an expansive continuation of Rey’s story, positioning these films as direct sequels to the core trilogy rather than standalone adventures like Rogue One or Solo.
Though Ridley’s remarks could reference various Star Wars projects in development—including a possible Jon Favreau movie and multiple Disney+ series—the prospect of a new series focused on Rey’s journey presents an exciting path forward for the Star Wars universe.
