The first version of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ was an absolute mess. Originally it was mainly a courtroom drama with very little action from Daredevil. The show received negative feedback, leading to significant changes in how Marvel developed its series.

In late September 2023, after filming six out of the 18 episodes, Marvel Studios decided to change the direction of the show.

The original head writers, Corman and Ord, along with the other directors, were let go after executives watched the footage and felt the series “wasn’t working.”

Their approach was quite different from the Netflix version, which meant Charlie Cox wouldn’t appear as Daredevil until the fourth episode. Marvel planned to keep some of the filmed scenes while adding new elements and moving closer to the tone of the original Netflix series.

Corman and Ord were still expected to get credit as executive producers. In October of last year Dario Scardapane, a writer from Netflix’s ‘The Punisher,’ was brought on as the new showrunner, showing Marvel’s shift towards a more traditional approach to TV production.

The first version of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ did not include Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen and Elden Henson’s Foggy, something which Charlie Cox extensively commented on. The characters were eventually added during reshoots, as well as Jon Bernthal’s Punisher.

In the original ‘Born Again’ Karen and Foggy were set to die between the events of Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ and ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ which saw massive fan backlash.

Now following lengthy reshoots, the test screenings for ‘Born Again’ are currently underway, and rumors claims that the show has an even darker and grittier tone than the original Netflix production.

Each episode has a runtime of about an hour and features several cameos. A funeral takes place in the first few episodes, and the initial test screenings received positive feedback.

Now the funeral is the most interesting part here. According to some reports, Foggy or Karen are still set to die within the first few episodes of the show. The recently surfaced set footage that showcases Karen crying over Foggy’s body on the pavement sort of supports that rumor.

The footage also shows Daredevil very angry with Punisher. In any case, looks like we’re in for a treat and we honestly can’t wait for the first trailer, and March 2025 when the show is set to release on Disney+. Have something to add? Let us know in the comments below!
