‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Drops a Clever Foggy Nelson Easter Egg That Might Hint At the Character’s Future in the MCU

Daredevil: Born Again kicked off with its first two episodes, and fan reactions have been overwhelmingly positive. The premiere wasted no time in delivering an emotional gut punch, immediately pulling viewers in. If you’ve watched the show, you already know—Foggy Nelson meets a tragic end within the first 10 minutes.

In a brutal and shocking moment, Bullseye executes Foggy, along with several innocent bystanders caught in the chaos. While it’s clear that Foggy was the primary target, his murder remains shrouded in mystery, with no explanation as to why Bullseye went after him. Even Kingpin has distanced himself from the attack, leaving fans with more questions than answers.

Foggy’s death sends shockwaves through Matt Murdock’s life, leading to his split from Karen and his decision to abandon his crime-fighting alter ego for good. The loss pushes him to the edge—so much so that he nearly kills Bullseye in a fit of rage. Realizing how close he came to crossing the line, Matt decides to walk away from Daredevil entirely.

We’ve known for a while that killing off Foggy was a possibility, given various rumors and set leaks. And while his death was seemingly confirmed on-screen—we heard his heart stop and saw his body—it looks like this might not be the end of the character, at least in the MCU.

Following the premiere, Brad Winderbaum confirmed that both Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll will return for Season 2. This suggests that Foggy will either appear in flashbacks or, perhaps, he’s not actually dead after all.

Eagle-eyes fans noticed one interesting easter egg during the premiere. In Daredevil: Born Again, the address of Nelson, Murdock, and Page’s law firm is 468.

Interestingly, in Daredevil #468, titled The Secret Life of Foggy Nelson, Foggy fakes his own death.

‘The Devil in Cell-Block D’ by Ed Brubaker presents the MCU with an opportunity to raise the stakes for Daredevil, making him angrier and more bitter than ever, all the while setting up an amazing plot twist for Foggy.

In the story, Matt is outed as Daredevil by the media and subsequently arrested. During a prison visit from Foggy and private investigator Dakota North, Foggy was stabbed by several inmates and seriously injured.

Matt could hear his friend’s heartbeat fade, and Foggy was later pronounced dead after being taken away in an ambulance. Murdock attended Foggy’s funeral, where Foggy’s mother, Rosalind Sharpe, blamed him for her son’s death.

It was later revealed that Foggy had not died but was placed in the FBI’s witness protection program, where he was recovering and starting a new identity. In an attempt to reunite with Matt, he tries to escape but is captured by the mafia. However, the mafia was subsequently killed by ninjas from the Hand, who were following orders from Elektra.

The ninjas returned Foggy to his original captors, warning him that they would be watching him.

Foggy was eventually released and reunited with Matt Murdock. They decided to relocate their law office and operate on a referral-only basis to avoid attracting attention from Daredevil’s enemies, with Becky Blake joining them as a new law partner.

We don’t know whether this story will be adapted, but there is some evidence that supports our theory primarily the fact that Elden Henson will return in season 2 and the fact that Vanessa’s seems to be detaching from her husband completely.
