‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is one of the most talked-about upcoming MCU projects, partly due to the fan-fueled hype and partly due to its turbulent production that’s been plagued with everything from SAG-AFTRA strike to creative differences in what the showrunners wanted and what the studio wanted.
Following the strike, the show continued its development with reshoots and plenty of set photos that uncovered much of the story and the cast about to appear in the upcoming show. Due to that, we decided to bring you a comprehensive guide on ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ and everything you can expect from the show.
Matt will be starting anew leaving his past behind
At first, the upcoming show was marketed as a soft reboot of Netflix production. Matt Murdock was supposed to open a new law firm, leaving his old behind. In the post-credits scenes of ‘Echo,’ we saw that Kingpin is interested in running for New York mayor and he will obviously succeed in that role, as the earlier drafts of the story included both him and Matt moving on.
At some point in the show, Kingpin will start funding an anti-vigilante task force, which will presumably clash with Daredevil and other street-level heroes. The main villain of the show is rumored to be Muse, however.
Earlier drafts of the show did not include Foggy and Karen, but the two were eventually brought back to set, although one of them is still rumored to die over the course of the show. The earlier plans included them both dying between the events of Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ and ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’
Punisher will also be a huge part of the story, some set leaks saw him fighting White Tiger and even helping out Matt at some point. Even though marketed as a reboot, the most recent set leaks indicated that the show will try to act as an extension of Netfilx’s production as much as possible. The release of ‘Echo’ and subsequent events that are yet to happen within the MCU in the context of ‘Born Again’ contributed to the fact that Netflix’s Defenders saga has been made canon as well, a decision that was reviewed several times.
During Disney’s special presentation, a short teaser video was shown.
The [trailer] shows Matt Murdock donning the iconic Daredevil suit while narrating that the “Whole system is against you in New York.” At the end of the trailer, following a brief action sequence, Murdock is asked “What kind of a lawyer are you?” “A really good one,” he quips as he puts on a broken pair of his familiar glasses.
According to new reports by the people involved with the production, the show is being likened to Marvel’s X-Men ’97’ in that both projects respect and build upon the original material while elevating it to new heights. Additionally, it is set to have a one-take hallway scene, much like the one from Netflix’s ‘Daredevil.’
‘Born Again’ core cast is pretty much the same as in Netflix’s show
The majority of the core cast will be reprising their roles, with some new faces:
Cast List:
- Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil
- Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin

Lou Taylor Pucci has joined the cast in a yet-to-be-revealed role. Before the series’ creative changes, Nikki M. James was set to play Kirsten McDuffie, Clark Johnson as Cherry, and Zabryna Guevara as Sheila Rivera. Additionally, Michael Gaston, Marc Geller, and Harris Yulin were also previously involved with the series.
The show doesn’t have a set release date yet
‘Daredevil: Born Again’ will be released in March/Spring 2025 and the show will be 9 episodes long. It will be integrated into Phase Five of the MCU.
In late September, Marvel Studios initiated a significant overhaul of the series, resulting in the removal of Corman, Ord, and the initial directors. Subsequently, Scardapane, Benson, and Moorhead were brought on board in the following month. The approach shifted towards a serialized format closely linked to the Netflix series. Filming restarted in January 2024 and concluded in April.
