Darth Vader’s Dark Past Comes Back in a Major Way in New Story Featuring Kylo Ren

Kylo Ren is heading to Tatooine to uncover secrets about his grandfather, Anakin Skywalker. Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #2 dives deep into Vader’s past, and things are about to get intense.

An exclusive look at the upcoming issue, written by Charles Soule with art by Luke Ross, was recently revealed. It kicks off with Kylo getting a tour of Tatooine from Vanee, one of Vader’s former servants. Kylo calls the desert planet worthless, but Vanee insists it holds powerful memories. This is where Anakin met Padmé, joined the Jedi, and suffered terrible loss.

A flashback shows Anakin’s brutal attack on the Tusken Raiders after they killed his mother. This was his first real step toward the Dark Side. ‘Do not dismiss this place, Kylo Ren,’ Vanee warns. ‘Tatooine is important.’ He knows this because he used Vader’s security codes to dig into Palpatine’s files.

Kylo is then led to Mos Espa, where young Anakin shocked the galaxy by winning the Boonta Eve Classic as a slave. This could be the moment Kylo finally realizes his grandfather was once in chains. The preview doesn’t show the moment between Vader and Watto, but the tension is already building.

The official description teases even more chaos. Kylo will face off against Gardulla the Hutt, her guards, and even a rancor. But the biggest mystery? What really happened between Vader and Watto.

The first issue of Star Wars: Legacy of Vader was such a hit that it’s getting a second printing on March 19. The highly anticipated second issue lands on March 12.
