DC Studios Reportedly Has Two Potential Replacements in Mind if Brolin Declines Hal Jordan Role

Yesterday, some interesting rumors dropped that DC Studios is reportedly heavily considering Josh Brolin for the role of Hal Jordan in the upcoming show ‘Lanterns.’ According to several insider sources, the 56-year-old actor is the first choice but he has not accepted the role yet, and it was a heavily guarded secret.

The upcoming ‘Lanterns’ project is supposed to focus on three notable members of the Green Lanterns corps, Guy Gardner, John Stewart, and Hal Jordan. Nathan Fillion is so far the only confirmed Lantern in the DCU as he has already appeared on the set of ‘Superman.’

Everything we know about ‘Lanterns’ is that it’s going to be a cosmic detective story with Hal Jordan serving as a mentor figure to John Stewart. The studio is reportedly looking for a big-name younger star to portray Stewart. The age is quite a problem, however, despite Jordan being only a mentor in the show plenty of fans pointed out that Brolin might be too old for the role. The reactions to the initial announcement were not good at all.

Now according to Jeff Sneider via his newsletter, the studio is considering two more notable actors for the role if Brolin ends up rejecting the role. The first actor the will consider is Ewan McGregor, most notable for his role in Star Wars franchise as Obi-Wan Kenobi. McGregor however might be too old as well as the actor is currently 53.

The second actor is reportedly Matthew McConaughey, best known for ‘Magic Mike,’ ‘Interstellar,’ ‘Dallas Buyers Club,’ ‘Mud,’ and plenty of other hits. McConaughey is a massive name and quite frankly it would be interesting to see him in a role of this type.

Now McConaughey is also 54 years old, so the studio is clearly going for a much older Hal Jordan, which led fans to believe that Jordan is either retiring by the end of the show or dying.

So what do you think about three actors that rumored to play Hal Jordan? Let us know in the comments below!
