DCEU Star Hints at a Big Comeback in ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2: “It’s definitely a more epic storyline”

James Gunn and Peter Safran are currently hard at work trying to kickstart a brand new cinematic universe based on DC comics characters following the ill-fated DCEU. One of the most notable projects to survive the “reset” was James Gunn’s own ‘Peacemaker’ a show that’s returning for a second season this time as a part of DCU.

Co-CEO of DC Studios confirmed that ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 will be part of the DCU canon. He assured fans that the transition from the DCEU to the DCU, especially for ‘Peacemaker,’ will be smooth and easy to follow, without causing confusion.

Due to this, the cast of ‘Peacemaker’ and some other DCEU projects related to Gunn survived the wiping of the slate, apparently among them was Steve Agee, who played John Economos in ‘The Suicide Squad’ and ‘Peacemaker.’

Agee who will also appear in ‘Creature Commandos’ commented on his future role in a somewhat mysterious manner:

I don’t know what’s going on beyond Creature Commandos in season 2 of Peacemaker – I’m in Savannah, Georgia, right now shooting season 2. We’re almost done, I should be done on Monday, and that’s the end of the season. So beyond that, I don’t know what’s in store for Economos. There’s a lot I wish I could tell you, [laughs] but you’ll have to tune into the shows!

Agee teased that ‘Peacemaker’ season 2 will have a bigger and more epic storyline, now set in the larger DC Universe. He also promised that more characters will be involved in the new season.

It’s definitely a more epic storyline. More characters are involved this time, and it’s a massive story in a massive world. I think anyone who likes season 1 is going to love season 2.

Gunn recently finally shed light on the exact canonicity of ‘Peacemaker’ Season 1. The director confirmed that almost the entire season 1 is canon with the exception of Justice Leauge. He clarified that nothing is officially part of the new continuity unless it’s shown in ‘Creature Commandos’ or anything that comes after it in the DCU.

Now in Creature Commandos, you’ll hear them talk about things that happened in [The] Suicide Squad or Peacemaker, well then, those things automatically become canon.

The truth is almost all of Peacemaker is canon with the exception of Justice League… which we will kind of deal with in the next season of Peacemaker,”
