‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is certainly one of the releases this year that is meant to kickstart great things. First, the movie is Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU, something that fans have been asking for, well, since the MCU existed. Second, it’s part of a new strategy that aims to restore at least some of the faith that fans had in the franchise and in the studio.
For months now we’ve heard testimonies of people who have seen finished parts of the movie how it’s going to be the MCU saver and even some plot points have been leaked, as well as the first look at the villain Cassandra Nova, played by Emma Corrin.
There’s been talk about a large number of cameos set to appear in the movie, mostly from Fox’s X-Men Franchise and other superhero movies that aren’t directly connected to the MCU, like for example Garner’s Elektra. These cameos are certainly an exciting premise, but fans are also worrying about how all of that is going to fit into a movie that’s reportedly just over two hours long. Now Daniel Richtman, an industry insider has a new round of rumors for us. Apparently, the cameos might be connected to the new concept that the studio plans to introduce as a part of the Multiverse in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’
The plans are to introduce a concept via which every Universe has one being upon which the universe depends. If the being is to die, the Universe dies.
Fans already pointed out that the concept is basically the opposite of what was introduced in ‘What If…?’ – the Universe Killer. But I would like you to remember something that started making rounds back before Kang the Conqueror was introduced to the MCU with ‘Quantumania’ and how the studio was referencing him as the Nexus Being.
Nexus Beings are extremely rare beings (or other entities) who act as a focal point for reality (and other mystical energies) of the specific Universe inside the Multiverse. Nexus beings can affect probability, reality, and time-stream. They can alter the way in which the time stream will act with their choices. This means that every choice they make can affect reality and the events that will come to pass in the future.
The most notable Nexus Being currently in the comics is Scarlet Witch and this was for most of us, our first introduction to the term. It’s possible that the concept that ‘Deadpool 3’ plans on allegedly introducing to the MCU is just a different take on the Nexus Being, and it’s also quite possible that all cameos in the movie will prove to be vital for their own respective universe.
