‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Was Originally Planned as an Intentionally Bad Movie Called “Alpha Cop”: “Two cops, one brain, all balls”

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is the most recent MCU released. The movie is significant for several reasons. It’s Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU, it’s supposed to be a massive box office hit for the studio, and it’s meant to reignite some of the excitement fans once held for the studio releases.

But the path to actually making the movie wasn’t as easy as we thought. A few weeks ago Reynolds revealed that the movie was on its deathbed until Jackman pitched one final idea that saved it from being shelved. Several of Reynolds’ ideas for the movie were turned down by the MCU boss.

Feige himself admitted that Reynolds had “25 different ideas” but the Marvel boss was only worried about how to incorporate Deadpool and other mutants into the MCU, which as time passes by is proving to be a Gargantuam task.

Karan Soni also recently revealed that one of the ideas for ‘Deadpool 3’ included the gang traveling to the North Pole to save Christmas. Although it does sound like a hilarious premise, I don’t think it would align with Feige’s vision to incorporate mutants.

Now in their latest marketing appearance to promote the movie, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds had a guest appearance on “The Hot Ones.” Reynolds revealed one more idea he pitched:

The original idea with this movie was to shoot a fake movie called “Alpha Cop,” that was intentionally bad. I had even a poster made. It was about two guys sharing one brain, and together they make an ultimate cop. And the poster says, you know, “Alpha Cop – Two cops, one brain, all balls.” And It was meant to be kind of horrible, and so you would go, like 10 people in America would go to see this movie on opening weekend, and 5 minutes into the movie the Marvel logo would flip up and it would actually be ‘Deadpool and Wolverine.’

Reynolds continued that there was one massive problem with this concept:

But the problem was, if you manage to get it right down to the last minute, and it gets blown, you know, it would just be heartbreaking. I don’t know, but we’ve been lucky on this one.

I have to agree that the concept sounds brilliant, and it would be the most Deadpool thing to do in the history of cinema. How do you like the original concept for the movie?
