Superheroes and other comic book characters often cause significant damage during their battles. While these heroes typically do not intend to inflict harm, collateral damage and casualties are an inevitable part of their conflicts.
However, there are instances when heroes choose to kill, believing it to be the only way to defeat their foes and achieve victory.
Characters like Batman and Superman may uphold a “no-kill” policy, but this is more of an exception than a standard. Generally, superheroes do not hesitate to eliminate threats, whether they be monsters, aliens, or other adversaries.
With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at the kill count of a particularly intriguing Marvel character—Deadpool. Known for his willingness to kill, Deadpool’s on-screen history is quite complex, yet when we examine all of his appearances (both MCU and non-MCU), his total kill count isn’t as high as one might expect.
The information we have comes from a list on IMDb created by user Creedswede, who diligently tracked the kill counts of both major and minor MCU characters, along with several key notes. According to the data presented, here is Deadpool’s kill count:
Source
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine – 8
- Deadpool – 42
- Deadpool 2 – 59 (1 as Juggernaut)
- Deadpool & Wolverine – 41
- Total kills: 150+
Deadpool has no additional appearances beyond those already noted, and it’s important to mention that this list accounts for all of his appearances, not just the MCU ones. Despite the brutal nature of the Deadpool films, he hasn’t actually killed as many people as one might expect, whether viewed from a personal or comparative perspective.
From a personal standpoint, Deadpool has taken out about 150 people, which is just a typical morning for him, to be honest. Comic book readers know just how many more he has dispatched in the comics.
From a comparative standpoint—where we included all his appearances because limiting it to the MCU would render him nearly irrelevant—his kill count still falls short when compared to many other, less lethal characters.
This highlights the significant difference between cinema and comic books; while these characters originate from comic pages, their on-screen portrayals can vary widely. However, his kill count is likely to increase in the future with any new appearances, allowing him to “improve” those numbers.
These figures have been updated as of Deadpool & Wolverine, so we can confidently say they are accurate.
