This year’s CinemaCon has been a blast. Marvel Studios showcased clips related to several upcoming projects and attendees were able to enjoy 9 minutes of exclusive footage from the upcoming movie.
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is currently the most anticipated MCU project, it’s the only MCU movie releasing this year, and for a good reason. The studio wants to restore some of the faith that fans used to have in the franchise and set up something huge with Deadpool.
This is exactly what the CinemaCon attendees saw yesterday. The footage introduces Wade Wilson, now a car salesman, accompanied by his X-Force teammate Peter, who holds onto Deadpool’s old costume, hinting at a return to crime-fighting. At a surprise birthday party, familiar X-Men characters like Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead appear. Wade’s relationship with Vanessa is revealed as amicable but no longer romantic, as the two split up.
During the celebration, the TVA interrupts and transports Wade to meet Mr. Paradox, offering him a chance to play a significant role in the multiverse’s sacred timeline. Wade receives a suit upgrade and adamantium swords. Amidst humorous moments like breaking the fourth wall, Wade embraces his new role with flair.
The presentation also revealed that Deadpool himself designed the popcorn buckets for the upcoming movie. Feige described the movie as “F**** Awesome.
One of the most notable things about the clip however is the appearance of one of the most notable Avengers – Thor. Thor can be seen crying over Deadpool’s dead body and Matthew McFadden’s Mr. Paradox tells him, “That happens in the distant future.”
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is rumored to include plenty of cameos, yes, but some fans pointed out that the footage used in the shot could actually be the footage with Loki from ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ or ‘Thor: Dark World.’
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is scheduled to be released on July 26, 2024, as part of Phase Five of the MCU.
