Did You Catch the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Easter Egg That Hints at ‘Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow’?

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is MCU’s most recent installment, and it’s a true box office hit in large part thanks to the fan service in the shape of numerous cameos from previous Marvel live-action adaptations that happened before MCU was a thing.

But, cameos were not the only references that the movie made, while Deadpool is visiting Happy Hogan’s office we can see plenty of cool things that nod toward the previous MCU installments, and perhaps even teasing some future installments.

In a scene where Deadpool visits Happy Hogan’s office on Earth-616 to apply for a spot in the Avengers, several cool stuff can be seen. The office contains Phil Coulson’s Captain America cards and Peter Parker’s helmet from Iron Man 2. But one item, in particular, foreshadows something sinister – especially in the light of the most recent announcements we’re talking about Ultron Sentry head and Tony Stark’s prototype Captain America shield. These objects could play a role in a future MCU storyline, possibly an adaptation of ‘Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow.’

The presence of Ultron Sentry heads means that Ultron can return at any moment, and that’s seemingly what’s going to happen as yesterday it’s been confirmed that James Spader is set to return as Ultron in the upcoming ‘Vision’ show. So what’s that has to do with ‘Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow.’

‘Next Avengers’ is an animated movie set in an alternate future of the Marvel Universe where the original Avengers have been defeated by Ultron, a rogue AI created by Tony Stark. The movie follows the story of the children of the original Avengers as they rise to take on their parents’ legacy and fight against Ultron to save the world.

The lineup of the team includes James Rogers (the son of Steve Rogers and Black Widow), Torunn (the daughter of Lady Sif and Thor), Henry Pym, Jr. (the son of Giant-Man and the Wasp) Azari as Black Panther (the son of T’Challa and Storm) and Francis Barton as Hawkeye (the son of Clint and Barbara Morse.)

Now it’s clear that the only way that the lineup could look like this is if we mix the multiverse into the equation since the pairings on Earth-616 ended up looking drastically different, some Avengers that had children are either dead or it’s impossible for them to have kids, or were never part of the MCU, to begin with, like Storm.

The MCU however already has a solution for this as it’s been setting up replacements for older heroes for a few years at this point. In the MCU continuity, James Rogers would have to be the son of Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter, and Black Panther’s child would be Toussaint, the son of T’Challa and Nakia, instead of Azari.

Hawkeye Jr. would be Nathaniel Pietro Barton, and Henry Pym Jr.’s parents could be Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne rather than Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne. Torunn could remain Thor and Sif’s daughter, as Jane Foster has passed away.

We know there’s a Young Avengers project in development and its roster will be drastically different, but if the MCU ever decides to go down this path, it can.
