Despite the Early Review-Boming, ‘Agatha All Along’ Soars Past 80% RT Score

‘Agatha All Along’ premiered a few days ago with the first two episodes. Delivering exactly what fans who have been following marketing closely have been waiting for. The show leans into its campy charm, blending witchcraft, pop culture references, and humor seamlessly.

With a solid foundation, it keeps viewers entertained and engaged just enough for us to sit through the rest of the episodes and see whether Agatha has a Loki-style redemption arc around the corner.

The show debuted with a 72% critics score which was solid and still fresh, but the score kept plummeting and at one point it went as low as 65% before ultimately recovering. Currently, the critics score stands at 80% which is an amazing recovery, and when it comes to the audience score, the show is rated at 81%.

This is a lot higher when compared to the last few Disney+ miniseries like ‘Echo’ and ‘Secret Invasion.’

The situation is slightly different when you look at the IMDB stats, and the attempts to review-bomb the show have been made. The show is currently rated at 6.8 based on nearly 8,000 ratings, which is an amazing number for a show that premiered a few days ago.

Even before the show was released, the review-bombing campaign was expected. Once again due to some statements made by the cast and crew. The show focuses on LGBT representation quite heavily.

Joe Locke who plays the Teen in the show explained that he has already received backlash for being a gay actor portraying a gay character in a campy show.

Aubrey Plaza confirmed that the show is the “gayest show” to date, hitting at a romance between Rio Vidal and Agatha. Sasheer Zamata who portrays Jennifer Kale and showrunner Jac Schaefer already explained how the show can represent the persecution of marginalized minorities much in the same way as witches used to be persecuted in the real world.

A lot of fans are not happy with the current state of ‘Agatha All Along,’ but at the end of the day, the show never pretended to be anything other than a campy magical adventure tailored towards some very specific fans, and it was likely never expected that the show will attract mass audiences.

Still, the show thrives, and we can’t wait to see how the score evolves over time. What did you think about the ‘Agatha All Along’ premiere? Let us know in the comments below!
