Did Glen Powell Just Confirm He Is Joining Gunn’s DCU as the Next Batman?

Share:

James Gunn will be quite busy in the next several years. When he and Peter Safran took over the reins of DC Studios and rebooted DCEU into a newly minted DCU, they announced quite a slate of projects, one of them ‘The Brave and the Bold’ Batman movie.

So far we’ve been hearing a lot about the upcoming ‘Superman’ as all major roles have been filled, DCU has also found its Supergirl, but except for occasional rumors regarding Batman casting, we know nothing regarding who might be the DCU’s Dark Knight.

Several names have been put forward by the fans, among them Alan Ritchson, Jensen Ackles, and Glen Powell leading the popularity race, and the case for Powell being cast as Batman has just become stronger due to several hints from social media.

A few days ago, ‘Anyone but You’ star started following both James Gunn and Andy Muschietti who is set to direct the upcoming Batman flick.

Isolated, this means nothing, but you need to take into account some comments that Powell made a few months ago. The actor admitted that he is not really interested in Oscar-baits, or superhero roles for that matter, especially MCU roles, he did admit that he would like to play Batman, a different take on Batman:

I was always a Batman guy. […]I would have a wild take on Batman. It definitely would not be like a Matt Reeves tone – it’d probably be closer to Keaton. Oh, sick!

Powell however did already have a minor role in one of the best Batman movies of all time:

I get my head smashed in by Bane in ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’

We’re still a long way from finding out who the next DCU’s Batman will be, but currently, it certainly looks like Powell has decent odds.
