As many know, Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali is set to star in the highly anticipated Marvel Studios thriller Blade. However, the project is currently in an unusual stage of production, making it difficult to predict its outcome or even whether it will be released at all, as we have previously reported.
While fans are eager to see the film, it seems the only thing that truly matters is the studio’s decision, given the depth of the issues involved. Nevertheless, it appears that Marvel hasn’t abandoned the project.
In fact, the studio’s recent hit series, Agatha All Along, may be laying the groundwork for the broader Blade narrative.
We’ve covered the vampire reference in Episode 4 and its potential implications for the future, but there’s another significant element in that scene that could tie into the Blade lore, particularly regarding the balance of powers.
While it may have seemed like a casual remark, the witch Lilia mentions in passing in Episode 4 of Agatha All Along, titled “If I Can’t Reach You / Let My Song Teach You,” that she has a healed vampire wound. Though this comment doesn’t appear to impact the plot directly, it does shed light on the balance of power between witches and vampires in the MCU.
As we’ve theorized, Lilia’s vampire bite suggests a potential ongoing conflict between witches (and possibly werewolves) and vampires. Given that Marvel’s next phase might lean toward the supernatural, this moment could be significant moving forward. However, it’s unclear how deep-rooted this conflict is—whether it’s an isolated incident or part of a larger, systemic issue.
Moreover, the scene implies that witches may be either immune to vampire bites or possess a means to counter them, as Lilia does not transform into a vampire after being bitten.
The series hasn’t explored this further, leaving us uncertain whether it’s due to magic, immunity, or some concoction. Nonetheless, this detail could prove to be important as the MCU ventures into its supernatural phase.
In the comics, magic isn’t recognized as a known cure for vampirism. However, we do know that Hulk’s radioactive blood can halt the transformation, as can the Heart-Shaped Herb from Wakanda.
Additionally, eliminating the vampire that transformed you can reverse the process. It remains to be seen whether this will be significant, but it’s certainly an intriguing observation.
