Disappointing News for Black Cat Fans: She Won’t Be the New Female Lead in ‘Spider-Man 4’ After All According to Latest Reports

‘Spider-Man 4’ has been in development for over a year, and recent updates have brought exciting news. Destin Daniel Cretton is set to direct, with filming expected to begin in 2025.

However, both Zendaya and Tom Holland have yet to officially sign on, as they are reportedly in the process of renegotiating their contracts.

Recent rumors claimed that new male and female leads are being searched for for the upcoming movie. Plenty of fans theorized that the male lead would be a villain and the female lead would be none other than Black Cat, a potential new love interest for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

Hearing this, fans aptly concluded that the female lead is likely Sydney Sweeney’s Black Cat. Black Cat is the most rumored character to appear in ‘Spider-Man 4,’ and fans want the popular Madame Web actress to play her.

If you remember in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ MJ was among the people who forgot all about Peter Parker when Strange cast his spell meaning that the pair is supposedly no longer dating with MJ resuming her normal life with acceptance into MIT.

Returning MJ’s memories so soon in the MCU would completely undo the emotional impact of ‘No Way Home,’ so fans are really looking forward to a change of supporting characters.

During his most recent Q&A, Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez however put a stop to these rumors. A fan asked Alex Perez if Black Cat would appear in ‘Spider-Man 4’ or later in the trilogy, referencing rumors about a new female lead. Perez simply responded, “No.”

‘Spider-Man 4’ is shaping up to be a blend of many exciting elements, from new lead characters to the introduction of Symbiotes in the MCU, all within a Multiversal storyline. With so much going on, introducing a character as pivotal to Spider-Man’s story as Black Cat might feel overwhelming at this stage.

But, fans don’t have to despair. There’s always a slight chance that Black Cat can be introduced to the MCU via Daredevil, as the two worked in the comics before and even had a semblance of a romantic relationship.
