The highly anticipated ‘Blade’ reboot has faced significant issues long before recent SAG-AFTRA strikes. The MCU movie, focusing on the iconic vampire hunter Eric Brooks, was meant to reboot the popular ‘Blade’ trilogy that helped shape today’s MCU.
Since Mahershala Ali first pitched the idea and was officially cast as Blade in 2018, the project has struggled with script problems and has seen multiple changes in writers and directors throughout its development.
Some reports claimed that Mahershala Ali is the root of the problem, while other reports claimed that the story and scripting are at the core of the issue. Several weeks ago we reported that the studio will soon decide on the fate of the project, alongside the ‘Armor Wars’ movie that’s been in similar troubles.
Well, that “soon” has come now and it brought nothing good for the ill-fated reboot. THR reported yesterday that ‘Blade’ has been pulled from official Disney’s release slate. The movie was supposed to be released on November 7th, 2025.
The movie was already delayed several times, and now it seems that this delay will be indefinite. November 7th date has been taken over by ‘Predator: Badlands.’ This is nothing new considering all the insider reports and rumors, it’s likely that the movie won’t see the light of day.
But, not all news is bad. Disney has also announced release dates for three untitled Marvel films in 2028: February 18, May 5, and November 10. One of those movies is likely ‘X-Men’ reboot- something that we know little about at this point besides the fact that Michael Lesslie has been hired to pen the script.
One of these unnamed projects is likely the ‘Young Avengers’ project that’s been rumored to be in development ever since ‘The Marvels’ released and saw Kamala Khan lay the foundation for the new generation of Avengers.
As far as ‘Blade’ goes, rumors have it that Marvel Studios is now fast-tracking the ‘Midnight Sons’ project. ‘Blade’ might have been staked but the potential to resurrect the character in the MCU lays in ‘Midnight Sons.’
