Do Wanda’s Actions in ‘WandaVision’ and Billy’s ‘Agatha All Along’ Reveal She Gave Pietro His Powers Instead of the Mind Stone?

In the MCU, Wanda and Pietro Maximoff gained their powers from the Mind Stone, which was part of Loki’s scepter. Wanda’s exposure to the stone gave her abilities like telekinesis and reality manipulation.

Pietro, on the other hand, gained super speed. Hydra played a major role in giving Wanda and Pietro their powers. In ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ it’s revealed that Hydra conducted experiments on the twins, using the Mind Stone as part of their research.

Wanda’s exposure to the stone gave her her abilities, while Pietro gained his super speed. It’s understandable that MCU at that point had to avoid any direct connections to their mutant origin from the comics, as Fox owned the rights at the time. It was only later that the MCU started dropping direct hints that mutants existed in the MCU.

However even taking this into account, it’s difficult to connect Pietro’s super-speed to Mind Stone. It’s been revealed that both Pietro and Wanda had certain genetic markers that served as the so-called petri dish for powers, as well as other Sokovians, however, the twins were the only ones to survive the programs.

Now in ‘WandaVision’ it was heavily hinted that Wanda’s powers are more than just a product of the Mind Stone, and Pietro’s abilities are a direct product of Wanda’s reality-changing ability.

The show suggested that Wanda’s powers first appeared when she was a child while protecting herself and Pietro from a Stark Industries bomb. While Wanda showed her powers, Pietro didn’t display his super-speed. Since the Mind Stone later amplified their powers, it’s strange that Pietro didn’t show any speed abilities earlier, unlike Wanda.

Once again, ‘WandaVision’ is clear that Wanda has the ability to grant someone super-speed the biggest evidence for this is her son Tommy, who has super-speed despite being manifested by Wanda’s magic and sharing no genetic material with his “uncle.”

The introduction of Wanda’s son Billy, further complicates the issue since Billy seemingly has a terrible power to warp reality on a level previously unseen in the MCU. The teen managed to conjure up an entire realm, the Witches Road out of his magic alone.

While doing so, he managed to conjure up magic within the realm, and even probe the minds of his coven members and find out information he couldn’t possibly know all the while making those same thoughts real.

It’s far-fetched by quite possible to pull off that Wanda and Billy could be the originators of X-Men in the MCU. All you would need is individuals with suitable genetics and Wanda’s and Billy’s “power granting” and reality-warping abilities.
