Doctor Fate and Black Adam are among the most iconic and powerful characters in the DC comics. Although their origin stories are vastly different, both were granted amazing powers by the ancient deities. Black Adam relies on the Egyptian Pantheon that blessed him with strength, wisdom, speed, and powers, and Dr. Fate relies on a powerful artifact, the Helmet of Fate, to subdue his enemies. The fight between the two would be extremely interesting, and due to that, we decided to see, when it comes to a battle between Black Adam and Dr. Fate, who is more powerful and who would win in a fight?

Doctor Fate is more powerful than Black Adam and would be able to win a fight against him. Even though Dr. Fate might be considered to be lacking in some physical aspects, his powers are far more versatile than Black Adam’s. He is also more durable and more intelligent. Doctor Fate’s powers are on a multiversal level, and he faced opponents far more powerful than Black Adam and lived to tell the tale.

Now that we’ve covered in short who would win in this fight, it’s time to analyze it in more detail. We’re going to explore the powers, abilities, strength, durability, and speed of both characters, so you can see how we came to our conclusion. Powers and abilities

Black Adam is the former champion of the Wizard, and this was his first source of power. Since then, he came to be empowered by the Egyptian Pantheon and currently draws his magical powers from Aten. Aten provided Black Adam with the ability to summon bolts of lighting. Those bolts are so powerful that he can hurt Wonder Woman and, in several instances, instantly kill beings of lesser power standings.

Black Adam is an excellent energy manipulator. He can turn his body into a powerful conduit of magical energies to the extent that even touching him might prove lethal. Besides having an affinity for lighting, Black Adam can manipulate powerful magic.

Even though Kent is quite well-versed in magical affairs on his own, his personal skills with magic pale when considering the main source of his powers – Helmet of Fate. With the Helmet, Dr. Fate has unmeasurable magic at his disposal, the kind that twists reality and affects space-time. He can manipulate time, eldritch energy, electricity, force fields, illusions, magnetic fields, and fire. Simply put, Doctor Fate is among the most powerful magic users ever.

Doctor Fate has access to a vast repository of spells that allow him to astrally project, travel through dimensions, divine events, negate energy, turn himself invisible, hypnotize, etc. Basically, If you can think about it, it’s likely that Doctor Fate can do it, as there is very little limit placed on what he can do with his magic. He is likewise a skilled necromancer and has the ability of molecular manipulation.

When it comes to utilizing magic and related powers, it’s obvious that Dr. Fate is vastly more powerful than Black Adam. The first point goes to Nelson.

Strength and Stamina

Black Adam has the strength of Amun, and it would be an understatement to say that he is physically strong. Black Adam’s strength is nearly infinite in nature. He was able to overpower Ultraman and Nekron, both of which are blessed with incredible amounts of physical strength.

In terms of stamina, Black Adam was blessed by Shu, which provided him with far more stamina than the average human being has at his disposal. He can exert himself at his full potential nearly indefinitely.

With the power of Helmet of Fate, Doctor Fate has superhuman strength at his disposal, but the weight he can lift was never actually defined. This is why we will have to rely on his comic feats to paint a more accurate picture. Dr. Fate is physically strong enough to lift an airplane and overpowers several gorillas. He was strong enough to match and overpower the evil Superman with physical force.

Even though Dr. Fate is not a weakling by any means, he still never demonstrated physical feats to the extent that Black Adam did, so he loses this point.

Points: Black Adam (1:1) Doctor Fate

Speed

Black Adam has the speed of Horus, which provides him with speedster-level speeds in DC comics and provides him with the ability to fly. Black Adam can reach at the least hyper-speeds both in and out of combat. He can regularly reach Mach 500 speed and can easily match up against other fast characters in DC comics. While flying in space, Black Adam can reach the speed of light.

Dr. Fate can fly, and while he has his helmet at his disposal, he can reach impressive speeds. Nelson was fast enough to move several miles in a split second without using his teleportation or portals. He was quick enough to intercept a bullet with his hand and redirect Shazam’s lighting. The biggest testament to Fate’s speed, however, remains that he matched Hawkman’s speed while flying.

Both Doctor Fate and Black Adam are fast, but Black Adam is vastly faster, being able to move regularly at the speed of light.

Durability

Black Adam has the courage of Mehem, which means that he is, to a large part, difficult to injure. Black Adam demonstrated the ability to resist damage from most sources. He is resistant to magical attacks to a certain extent, and there’s hardly a weapon out there that can deal him significant damage. Even if Black Adam is injured in combat, his fast-acting healing factor deals with the damage most efficiently. Black Adam is, while he is empowered, immortal.

Doctor Fate’s Helmet provides him with an unseen level of durability, and he is sometimes completely invulnerable to damage. He often tanks planetary levels of destruction and atomic weapons. He survived his duel against the Spectre and the Spectre and was frequently placed on the lists of most powerful characters within the DC Universe. The best part is Doctor Fate is, to a large part, immune to magic lighting, which is one of the main attacks that Black Adam would engage him with.

Black Adam is highly durable, and rarely do we come across as someone that might be able to tank his magical attacks, but Doctor Fate’s magical protection is simply on another level. The point goes to Nelson.

Points: Black Adam (2:2) Doctor Fate

Intelligence

With the wisdom of Zehuti, Black Adam’s mind works on a different level when compared to humans and most other characters within the DC universe. He is far from the smartest character in the DC universe, but due to his extensive experience, thanks to his unnaturally long life, he might be among the most experienced characters. Black Adam is a cunning and ruthless tactician, a diplomat, and wise beyond all reason. Likewise, he is an expert Egyptologist and fluent in several ancient languages. Even though he rarely uses planning and wits to resolve a conflict, as he often resorts to simply overpowering his opposition, it would be an understatement to say that he is simply smart.

Doctor Fate is an occultist and was tutored in mystic arts by Nabu. He was renowned as one of the greatest sorcerers of his time. In addition to his expertise in the mystic arts, he held a medical doctorate degree and was a skilled surgeon. Kent also possesses a doctorate degree in Archaeology, is a brilliant archaeologist, and is a certified college-level professor teaching Archaeology. He is likewise multilingual, proficient in Portuguese, Spanish, and various ancient languages relevant to his roles as an archaeologist and occultist.

His intelligence is further increased if we take the Helmet of Fate into account. Due to this powerful artifact, Nelson is clairvoyant, can divine past and future events, access telepathic powers, and in some instances, demonstrated that he has both magical and cosmic awareness.

As you can see, Black Adam has all the prerequisites of being an incredibly smart threat, but he doesn’t rely on his wisdom nearly as often as Doctor Fate.

Combat Skills

Even without resorting to his powers, Black Adam managed to keep up and overpower Batman in terms of combat skills. Black Adam is an extremely skilled combatant, both in terms of unarmed combat and armed combat. He is also known to be an extremely capable Martial Artist. This is all due to his extensive life and combat experience. Black Adam did spend a large portion of existence, or rather a few millennia fighting oppressors, facing the most powerful characters that DC has to offer, and acting as the Wizard’s champion.

Taking into account the vast magical powers that Doctor Fate has at his disposal, he doesn’t have to rely on his combat skills nearly as often. Still, he is skilled in Jujitsu and frequently engages enemies with his sheer physical strength.

Black Adam is far more experienced, skilled, and better combatant than Doctor Fate, and this is why he gets this point.

Points: Black Adam (3:3) Doctor Fate

Black Adam vs. Doctor Fate, who is more powerful, and who wins?

Doctor Fate is more powerful than Black Adam, and he would win a fight against Black Adam in the majority of their fights. Doctor Fate might be inferior to Black Adam in almost all physical aspects, but the fact is, his powers are enough to break space-time, and it’s generally known that Doctor Fate is a multiversal sorcerer. The ‘Black Adam’ movie painted a rather poor picture of Doctor Fate, and he seems to be inferior to Black Adam in every sense. That can’t be farther from the truth, however.

Doctor Fate had to be scaled down for the movie, but he regularly faced threats far more powerful than Black Adam in the comics.
