How did Moon Knight get his powers?
Marc Spector was born in Chicago to a rabbi father who had escaped Nazi prosecution. Growing up on the poor side of the city, Marc’s father was the target of discrimination, but Marc defended his younger brother against bullies. Despite his father’s disappointment with his violent tendencies, Marc was obsessed with war, and his education was not prioritized.
His obsession with war and violence led him to clash with his father often. To make matters worse, Marc likewise discovered that one of his father’s closes friends was a Nazi deserter. Confrontation with him in his formative years led him to develop a dissociative identity disorder, one thing that Moon Knight became famous for. Now, after his father’s death, Marc engaged in a military career, joining U.S. Marine Corps and later even the CIA; however, he was dishonorably discharged due to his mental state.
After his legitimate enthusiasm for warfare and military career failed, Marc Spector became a mercenary. The business went well until one ill-fated attempt to rob an archeological site. He was betrayed and beaten to death by his “colleagues.” Luckily in time, Marc Spector was laid underneath the stone idol of Khnoshu, the Egyptian Moon God.
Marc passed away, but in the afterlife, his spirit got into contact with Khonshu, which granted him powers in exchange for being his champion. After waking up, Marc Spector avenged himself by killing his accomplices. After this failed expedition, he returned to New York and decided to develop the Moon Knight persona. And this is how Moon Knight got his powers. He was born a human, and after death, he was resurrected by Khonshu, which subsequently resulted in Moon Knight getting superpowers.
Moon Knight’s powers are at their greatest when the moon is full
Being Khonshu’s champion, Moon Knight’s powers highly depend on the moon’s phases. During the nights when the moon is full, his stamina, strength, and reflexes are increased tenfold. Moon Knight was a powerful combatant even before Khonshu’s involvement, but the extra supernatural boost helps as well.
Besides being empowered depending on the moon phases, Moon Knight is likewise immortal. Just as Khonshu saved him from sure death the first time, he was able to bring him back on two additional separate occasions.
This makes Moon Knight quite formidable.
All in all, Moon Knight is considered an expert combatant, weapons master, martial artist, and incredibly talented marksman. Paired with Khonshu’s enhancements, Moon Knight can easily face even the most powerful superheroes in Marvel Universe and stand his ground.
Even though Moon Knight suffers from dissociative identity disorder, this doesn’t seem to be so much of a weakness for him, as it makes him incredibly immune to psychic and telepathic attacks. Due to his supernatural brain structure, granted to him by Khonshu, he is able to completely manipulate his mindscape and, through it, hurt targets in the real world. Such was the case with Leonard Hawley, who attempted to destroy the Moon Knight but instead discovered the extent of his superhuman brain.
Moon Knight relies on his gadgets and armor
Despite his connection to Khonshu and the supernatural powers that come with it, Moon Knight often relies on his arsenal of powerful tech to face his enemies. His iconic white armor was originaly made from Kevlar and was highly durable, but he eventually upgraded it to include adamantium, one of the strongest metals in the Marvel Universe. With several virtually indestructible areas, he is able to withstand even the most powerful attacks.
Moon Knight’s armor is also equipped with offensive and defensive gadgets, which he can use to gain the upper hand in battle. From throwing crescent-shaped blades to launching grappling hooks, he has many tools at his disposal. In addition, he always carries several types of explosive devices, which he can use to create distractions or take down multiple enemies at once.
While Moon Knight cannot fly, he is still incredibly agile and acrobatic. His cloak allows him to glide down from great heights and use it to slow down his descent or gain extra momentum in a fight.
His incredible reflexes and agility make him an incredibly difficult target to hit, and he can move quickly and fluidly around his enemies.
As you can see, despite being born human, Moon Knight acquired special powers, and his connection with Khonshu further compliments his already existing deadly skills and expertise.
