Dunkin’ Donuts Have Released ‘DunKings 2: The Movie’, Starring Ben & Casey Affleck, Jeremy Strong, Kevin Smith
Dunkin’ made a big splash during the Super Bowl with its latest ad, bringing back the DunKings in a hilarious new installment.
The commercial, which aired during the first break of the game, featured Ben Affleck in his full Boston-accented glory, joined by his brother Casey Affleck and Succession star Jeremy Strong. But that was just a preview of what Dunkin’ had in store. The full seven-minute short film, DunKings 2: The Movie, takes the coffee-loving boy band on a wild new adventure.
The story follows Ben Affleck as he tries to recruit Casey to compete at Java Jam, a coffee-themed battle of the bands. Though skeptical at first, Casey eventually joins the fun, and they set off to take on rival groups like the Drip Squad, the Burger Chain Gang, and the Barista Buds.
Along the way, they run into Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes, who reprise their famous Jay and Silent Bob roles, adding to the convention-like atmosphere of the competition.
One of the standout moments comes from Jeremy Strong, who takes his method acting to the extreme. Fully embracing his character, he bathes in coffee grounds and declares, “Dunkin’ is Boston. Boston is Paul Revere.” His transformation into Revere leads to a dramatic moment where he interrupts the brewing tension between the bands with a bold declaration: “America Runneth on Dunkin’!”
The ad also features some surprise appearances, including legendary NFL coach Bill Belichick, seen alongside his girlfriend Jordon Hudson. Donnie Wahlberg makes a brief but memorable cameo, adding to the excitement. The playful back-and-forth between Affleck and his competitors brings plenty of laughs, with clever jabs at expensive coffee chains and fast food rivals.
This marks Dunkin’s third consecutive year airing a Super Bowl commercial, with each one getting bigger and bolder. In 2023, Affleck surprised customers while working the Dunkin’ drive-thru. The following year, he attempted to launch a Dunkin’-themed boy band with Matt Damon and Tom Brady. While those two didn’t return for DunKings 2, their absence was acknowledged with some fun nods in the script.
Beyond the commercial itself, Dunkin’ is capitalizing on the hype with a new $6 DunKings meal deal available nationwide. They’ve also launched a fresh line of merch, including Juicy Couture tracksuits labeled “DunKings” and “DunQueens,” as well as branded tumblers and straws.
Super Bowl commercials are a huge deal, and landing a spot during the first break is especially coveted. With over 100 million viewers tuning in, Dunkin’ made sure to go all out with this year’s campaign.
