All 5 episodes of ‘Echo’ have been released, and we are full of impressions; besides the show being action-packed and having significant nods to the community, the show also marked a new era in Marvel Studios by bringing Netflix’s ‘Defenders’ saga to MCU canon and featuring some old faces, especially from ‘Daredevil’ show. Kingpin was a massive part of the show, and Daredevil made his appearance as well. Let’s see how many episodes Daredevil has appeared in.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Daredevil is in 1 episode of ‘Echo,’ it’s the first episode titled ‘Chafa.’
  • Daredevil doesn’t have a significant role in the series, and he is featured in a flashback scene while Echo is on her first mission for Kingpin.
  • ‘Daredevil’ shows up in a brief fight scene and doesn’t have all that many lines of dialogue.

Daredevil is not a massive part of ‘Echo’

Daredevil was shamelessly used to promote the show, that much is clear, despite numerous rumors mentioning that he won’t be a massive part of the show and will appear only briefly. Those rumors turned out to be right since Daredevil is featured in only a single episode of the show, the first one titled ‘Chafa.’

The episode basically tells us Echo’s origin story after Maya lost her father, and her native family basically excommunicated her. Kingpin was the only person she had left who seemingly cared about her. When Kingpin recognized bloodthirst in Maya, he decided to train her and turned her into a lethal weapon, something akin to his dog that he could just sit on his enemies.

Maya was personally trained by the best hired by Kingpin, but sooner or later, she would have to go on a real mission. When that moment came, Maya was accompanied by several of Kingpin’s men who had low expectations for her, and boy, oh boy, were they wrong.

Maya handled herself more than adequately during the fight and managed to eliminate one of the enemies by breaking his neck and spine with bare hands.

The mission would have gone incredibly smoothly in ‘The Man Without Fear’ hadn’t shown up at the end of the fight.

Why did Daredevil attack Echo?

Well, Daredevil fought Echo because Maya and Kingpin’s men massacred the enemies and killed them in the most brutal way possible. Daredevil was also aware that Maya was heavily involved with Kingpin, which meant that they were natural enemies. Maya was involved with crime and worked to make the city worse for everyone, while Daredevil, despite using street-level methods, was always on the side of the good however much he could be.

Daredevil is not a clean-cut goodie-two-shoes, but he is not a criminal either. He was watching Kingping’s target the whole night and was presumably going to beat them up when Maya and her men burst in and killed them all. That was enough for him to attempt to beat up Maya and her men.

Daredevil ultimately managed to defeat Maya even though she did give him a good fight; this is understandable because even though Maya is highly trained, Daredevil is better and has superpowers. Maya would only discover her superpowers much later in the show.

Will Echo be in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’?

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ has been scrapped for the most part being completely overhauled with a new creative team after the execs weren’t happy with the first half of the episodes of the show that were filmed. But considering that Kingpin will make an appearance in the show, we can expect that Echo will be at least mentioned or appear in a flashback. Those are all speculations since not much is known about the story of the upcoming show, especially now that we know that the show will be a reboot of the original ‘Daredevil’ series.
