Elizabeth Olsen Shares New Details About Her Possible MCU Return

In the second Avengers film, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Scarlet Witch made her debut as a supporting antagonist. Since then, Wanda Maximoff, portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen, has become a pivotal member of the Avengers, significantly contributing to the team and even starring in her own standalone series, WandaVision.

Wanda also played a major role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where she became the primary antagonist that Doctor Strange had to confront to save reality. Her character met her end in that battle, leaving fans speculating about her potential return.

Recently, we’ve covered rumors about a possible solo Scarlet Witch movie being quietly shelved and her potential reappearance in Agatha: Coven of Chaos. While no official announcements have been made, Elizabeth Olsen has recently shared her thoughts on the possibility of returning to the MCU.

As noted, fans have been eagerly speculating about how Scarlet Witch might return following her departure. Despite the mixed reception of the second Doctor Strange film, Scarlet Witch remains a beloved character with a compelling arc in the MCU. It would be a missed opportunity to disregard her character entirely.

Although there’s no confirmation on when or if Elizabeth Olsen will return as Wanda, the actress recently shared her thoughts on the possibility in an interview with FM 104, stating:

It’s a character I love going back to when there’s a way to use her well and I think I’ve been lucky when I started I was used well… and they kind of didn’t know what to do with me for a second there! If there’s a good way to use her, I’m always happy to come back.

As it stands, Elizabeth Olsen is open to returning, but only if there’s a compelling story. While a solo Scarlet Witch movie seems unlikely at the moment, there’s still a slim chance she could appear in Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Additionally, there’s potential for her inclusion in upcoming multiversal arcs or the planned Vision series, so possibilities remain.

There is definitely room to bring Wanda back. However, given the trajectory of her story so far, Marvel will need to craft a story that provides Wanda with a meaningful and significant role in any future project. We hope to see this happen soon, as we’re eager to have her back!
