Remember When Elizabeth Olsen Hilariously Spoiled the Ending of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ a Year Before Its Release?

When it comes to MCU actors who frequently spoil things, Tom Holland is surely in the lead. But one major leak went under everyone’s radar and it wasn’t delivered by the Spider-Man actor but rather by Elizabeth Olsen aka Scarlet Witch.

About a year before ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ was supposed to release, Olsen was a guest on Happy Sad Confused with Josh Horowitz and they played out a funny sketch that is supposed to describe the final battle between Thanos and Scarlet Witch.

Olsen ends the sketch with “Everyone dies.” As you know during ‘Infinity War’ Thanos managed to acquire all Infinity Stones and snaps – wiping out 50% of the universe’s population. A lot of important characters turned to dust and the movie’s final moments are known as the most devastating in superhero history.

Now Horowitz touched upon that sketch once again, reminding Olsen about spoiling the movie a year in advance. The interesting thing is that it wasn’t technically Olsen who spoiled the movie, it was Horowitz himself who wrote the sketch:

Horowitz: Now this was shot, chronologically speaking a year before ‘Infinity War’ came out. […] I wrote that line for you, you didn’t seem to bat an eye, I’m curious, can you recall any hesitation like: “oh this is going to get me into deep shit, I’m ruining the end of this movie essentially a year before it comes out”

Olsen: No, I think I thought like, “Oh, people aren’t going to think this is the ending because I’m saying it in a sketch” laughs Like, this is gonna, this is really like, I don’t know what’s it called when you get them off your trail….

That might be giving myself too much credit if I thought about it at all – which there’s a potential I didn’t.

Elizabeth Olsen got away with a serious spoiler about ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ during a comedy sketch, and Film Twitter didn’t realize it was serious until after the movie was released.

Olsen doesn’t feel sorry about it and even joked that she thinks she’s immune to Marvel’s strict team that keeps actors from revealing secrets.

People… other actors have always made jokes about – you know, there’s like SHIELD or Kevin Feige will come out and get mad at you or you’ll be reprimanded. I have a feeling I’ve ruined multiple things many times and no one has ever talked to me about it. So I think it’s fine laughs.

Speaking of the ‘Infinity War’ ending, several years ago it was exactly Olsen who revealed to the audiences how the cast of the movie found out the ending in the first place:

I found out from the Russos exactly what was going to happen and it wasn’t until we shot it on that day we learned what the ending was. They took us into a van – all of us – we were in a van with air conditioning because it was very hot and they told us how the movie was going to end and no one knew. And they were like ‘now we’re shooting it, go!’ And we were like ‘how are we supposed to interpret that?
