Marvel Studios’ newest and highly anticipated series, ‘Secret Invasion,’ premiered last Wednesday on Disney+. The first out of six announced episodes introduced us to the series’ premise and created a unique feeling of not knowing who to trust the entire time. We all know that Skrulls are shapeshifters and the way the plot creates the feeling that you can’t be sure who is who most of the time, really creates a thriller atmosphere that we haven’t really experienced in the MCU before.

The series features many returning MCU stars like Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Don Cheadle, and Martin Freeman. But also, as it usually goes with new MCU projects, we’ve also met new faces that potentially could have important roles in future MCU projects. Although to be fair, it’s been how long since Kate Bishop and Moon Knight were introduced as well, and we still have no clue what Marvel Studios is planning with them.

Emilia Clarke praises MCU as the best franchise she’s ever joined!

‘Secret Invasion’ has brought many known stars into the MCU, including Academy Award-winner Olivia Colman and four-time Primetime Emmy Award-nominated Emilia Clarke. Emilia Clarke earned worldwide recognition with the role of Daenerys Targaryen in HBO’s epic high-fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones,’ but she isn’t unfamiliar with blockbusters franchises such as ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Terminator’ as well.

The role of G’iah has finally brought the ‘Game of Thrones’ alum to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, although only on the small screens for now. Still, in a recent interview with Kevin Polowy, during the ‘Secret Invasion’ press tour, Clarke admitted that working on the MCU was a much better experience than in any of the other franchises she starred in during her career.

“It’s just the best. It’s such a pedigree in its own right, it lives on its own level that is separate from everything else. It isn’t just a superhero franchise, it’s Marvel, like it’s totally different. ‘Game of Thrones’ was such a unique experience for me because we didn’t know what the hell we were doing most of the time. And then it just became this big thing, and we just rode that journey all the way. This you’re stepping in, and everyone is already doing their A-game.”

Emilia Clarke played Daenerys Targaryen in eight seasons of ‘Game of Thrones’ between 2011 and 2019. In 2015, she played Sarah Connor in ‘Terminator Genisys,’ and in 2018, she played Qi’ra in Lucasfilm’s ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story.’ Her best-known non-franchise role is the role of Louisa Clark in 2016’s romantic drama ‘Me Before You.’

In Marvel Studios’ ‘Secret Invasion,’ Clarke plays G’iah, the daughter of Talos. In the first episode, her character is depicted as a member of Gravik’s group of rebel Skrulls that want to infiltrate Earth and wipe out humanity until Skrulls are all that’s left on the planet, while her father, Talos, is working with Nick Fury to stop them. What makes G’iah an interesting character is that we don’t really know whose side she’s on, so we’re expecting some twists and turns with her before the series finale.

The first episode of ‘Secret Invasion’ is now streaming on Disney+.
