Every Character Confirmed To Appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
This year’s SDCC was full of surprises. Marvel Studios has returned to Hall H and revealed plenty of updates on the upcoming projects. So far the most important projects that we need to keep an eye out for are ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ ‘Thunderbolts*,’ ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps,’ and ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’
Yes, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is the upcoming movie title that replaced ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty.’ After months of speculations regarding Kang’s fate within the MCU, it’s now official that the studio is moving away from Kang as the primary villain of this MCU saga as they decided to focus on Doctor Doom, played by Rober Downey Jr.
Next to nothing is known about the movie, but we have our suspicions it’s going to adapt to some extent the ‘Time Runs Out’ storyline. The movie has a set release date of May 1, 2026, with the Russo Brothers confirmed to direct it.
As far as the cast goes, we definitely have some idea of who might appear in the movie since several names have been confirmed.
1. Victor Von Doom – Robert Downey Jr.
The biggest reveal of the night! Although the reactions to this announcement have been mixed so far, we’re excited to see RDJ back where he belongs. “Same task different mask” was what RDJ said, and this led fans to theorize that he will play a variant of Doctor Doom and not the primary version.
2. Doctor Strange – Benedict Cumberbatch
This appearance wasn’t confirmed on SDCC, it was confirmed by Cumberbatch himself during one of the interviews. The actor claimed that the upcoming ‘Avengers’ installment is “cooking up a storm” and he can’t wait to be a part of it. Considering the multiversal nature of the current MCU saga, Strange is set to play a massive role, which leaks and scoops confirm. But, nothing is known regarding Strange’s potential solo project.
2. Fantastic Four
‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ will introduce Marvel’s first family to the MCU. It’s been confirmed once again that the movie will be set in an alternate reality during the 60’s and that Galactus will pose an extreme danger to Earth. During SDCC it’s been confirmed that all team members will appear in ‘Doomsday.’

- Ben Grimm / Thing – Ebon Moss Bachrach
- Johnny Storm / Human Torch – Joseph Quinn
3. Thunderbolts
Thunderbolts also have a movie coming up, they have been described as a team that will reluctantly work together, and SDCC showcased the first look at the character “Bob” who we all, with a good reason, assume is Sentry. Some members of the team have been confirmed to appear in ‘Doomsday’:

- Yelena Belova – Florence Pugh
- John Walker / U.S. Agent – Wyatt Russell
- Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian – David Harbour
