The two upcoming MCU blockbusters set to redefine the franchise and pave the way for a new era are Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, scheduled for release on May 1, 2026, and May 7, 2027, respectively. Fans are eagerly hoping these films will deliver on their massive potential and become major hits.

To pull off these ambitious projects, the MCU has brought back Robert Downey Jr. and the Russo Brothers. While we already know Doctor Doom will be the main antagonist, recent hints suggest an even broader lineup of villains could appear.

The end of Venom: The Last Dance teased Knull’s emergence as a future threat, sparking a fascinating fan theory about Knull’s possible role. According to the theory, Knull could play a pivotal part in salvaging two controversial MCU films, adding an exciting twist to the franchise’s future.

We found an intriguing fan theory online about Knull’s potential role in the MCU, shared on Reddit by user PimHazDa. This theory dives into how Knull could be introduced into the MCU and cleverly connects him to two previous MCU missteps, offering a fresh path to redeem them in an exciting way:

In the comics the necrosword that Gorr uses in Thor 4 was given to him by Knull. Plus that film brings a kind of connection between the celestials and gods. My theory is since knull is an antagonist to the celestrials and in the comics wants them dead and end their ability to maintain the balance of life in the universe that he will appear in either the next or next eternals film over.

With that I’m betting that the Sony venom and spiderman are going to have to team up and join some of the eternals due to the link to the hive mind the symbiotes have. That or that deallomgs with Knull will result in venom to appear in the mcu for a spiderman film outside of the eternals.

While there’s no confirmation that this theory will play out, it’s a compelling idea. If the MCU chose a similar approach, it could work wonders—potentially revitalizing two major franchises.

Knull’s connection to the Celestials is well-established, and given the disappointing performance of Eternals, the MCU needs a powerful catalyst to reinvigorate the story. Tying Knull to the Celestials could be just the answer.

Not only is Knull a major asset in Marvel’s lore, but the recent buzz around him, thanks to Sony’s Venom trilogy, makes this an especially timely move for the MCU.

As for Thor, the MCU’s portrayal of Gorr felt like a major disservice to one of Marvel’s most compelling villains in recent years. While we can overlook the movie’s flaws, it’s tough to forgive how it squandered Gorr’s potential.

However, if Knull were to enter the MCU and connect with the Necrosword storyline, as this theory suggests, it could not only give Gorr’s character a greater purpose but also help fix the issues of Thor: Love & Thunder.

We’re not sure Marvel will take this route, but it’s an exciting idea to consider. What do you think? Share your theories and thoughts in the comments below!
