MCU has quite a slate of movies coming up, even though Marvel Studios has hit a rough patch with the last couple of projects. There have been talks about releasing fewer projects, as fans are definitely becoming tired of shows and movies of lower quality; still, if one character always managed to drag people to movies, it’s Spider-Man, by far the most profitable Marvel franchise, no matter the product you’re looking at.
Several months ago it was confirmed that ‘Spider-Man 4’ is in active development, at first rumors were circulating that Watts would return to direct it, but he ultimately moved on to other projects, just like Drew Goddard and Justin Lin.
Now according to the World of Reel and their sources, Sam Raimi is the top man for the job. It’s hard to find anybody more experienced for the job (except for Watts himself). Raimi after all already has three ‘Spider-Man’ installments under his belt, with the second one receiving universal acclaim. Raimi and Marc Webb already served as creative consultants for Marvel Studios’ ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’
A few weeks ago Raimi stated that he would like to continue his original franchise with Tobey Maguire, but doesn’t know whether the studio would be open to that kind of thing. He also pointed out that he is on great terms with the execs due to their collaboration on ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’
As far as MCU goes, Raimi is in recent times one of the most talked-about directors, considering that he is also allegedly in the running to direct ‘Secret Wars,’ according to several sources. Raimi himself debunked the rumor, saying that the studio hasn’t asked him yet, but he certainly hopes that it will come to that.
