Ranker is a popular platform where users can rank anything they like, however, they choose, and whenever they want. It’s a fan-driven ranking system and isn’t officially connected to the creators of the projects in question. Recently, Ranker conducted a large survey to identify the best X-Men characters from Marvel’s universe. While the full list features many characters, we’ve focused on the top ten to give you a clearer view, along with our own commentary to add some extra insight.

Since this list is significant, we’ve decided to bring you the results, counting down from 10th to 1st place. We hope you enjoy the ranking!

10. Piotr “Peter” Rasputin / Colossus

We’re a bit surprised to see Colossus in the top ten. It’s not that he doesn’t deserve it, but he’s not a mainstream character and doesn’t have a huge fan following. Nevertheless, his unique approach and often humorous, straightforward remarks have earned him popularity. While his placement is unexpected, we’re genuinely pleased to see him on the list.

9. Jean Grey / (Dark) Phoenix

Jean Grey

Jean Grey may not be everyone’s favorite character, but she is undeniably one of the most important and powerful figures in the X-Men universe. Her story has evolved considerably throughout her comic book history, which may frustrate some fans. However, her significant role in the franchise makes her a deserving inclusion on this list.

8. Charles Francis Xavier / Professor X

For many fans, if not all, Professor X represents one of the core symbols of the franchise. While he may not be the strongest or the most popular mutant, he is undoubtedly the most crucial X-Man, as the X-Men themselves wouldn’t exist without him. There’s no question that he belongs on this list, and in our view, he deserves a higher ranking than he currently holds.

7. Scott Summers / Cyclops

Scott Summers Cyclops

When it comes to Cyclops, there’s no denying his popularity among fans and his significant role as a leader within the X-Men. The character boasts a compelling storyline, so it’s easy to see why he made this list. Do we agree with his inclusion? Absolutely!

6. Anna Marie / Rogue

Rogue is a character that resonates with many fans, particularly women. As a social outcast due to her differences, she eventually found acceptance among a group of like-minded individuals. Her embodiment of teenage angst made her extremely popular, and we believe she deserves an even higher ranking on this list.

5. Ororo Monroe / Storm

Storm’s impact on the franchise is immense. She has shattered stereotypes both within the universe and beyond, and her incredible strength as one of the most powerful mutants adds to her significance. Her overall importance to the X-Men cannot be overstated, so we wholeheartedly support her inclusion on this list and the rank she has achieved.

4. Remy LeBeau / Gambit

Gambit Remy Lebeau

Despite not gaining much additional fame from the movies, Gambit remains one of the most beloved X-Men characters, and we completely understand why. His unique appeal endears him to many fans, and we fully support his place on this list. Although he may not be a mainstream character, he certainly deserves to be included.

3. Kurt Wagner / Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler is undoubtedly a distinctive character, and we understand why fans are drawn to him. His intriguing, unique, and dark nature, combined with a compelling backstory, resonates with many. While we agree that he belongs on this list, we feel that third place might be a bit high; we would rank him somewhat lower.

2. Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto

Magneto is a significant X-Men antagonist, but he’s far from one-dimensional. He’s a complex and nuanced character who fits the antihero label better than that of a traditional villain. With one of the most compelling backstories in the franchise, it’s easy to see why fans are so captivated by him, despite his many misdeeds. His placement in second on this list doesn’t surprise us at all, and we fully support this choice.

1. James Howlett / Wolverine

There was never any doubt that Wolverine would claim the top spot. He is not only immensely popular but also one of the most significant characters in the franchise. His popularity was bolstered by the movies, but even in the comics, his distinctive personality won him a dedicated fan base. This ranking is well-deserved, and we fully support it.
