Fans Rank Top 10 Cosmic Level Threats in Marvel Comics

Share:

Marvel Comics have a plethora of interesting characters, some are barely enhanced humans opting out to fight their battles on street level, and some are either gifted by magic or their powers came from some horrific incidents.

In that diversity, there are some characters larger than life itself who are truly capable of cosmic levels of destruction. When discussing cosmic entities, it’s hard to judge who might be the strongest or the best, this is why we turned to Ranker. Ranker had a poll with a comprehensive list of Marvel’s cosmic characters and with over 9,000 votes fans have decided! Let’s see who the best is.

10. Thanos

MCU’s Thanos was dangerous, but his comic inspiration brought this to another level completely. Thanos is an Eternal deviant and everything in between, besides being incredibly physically powerful, he is also extremely smart which is his most dangerous quality.

He has access to advanced alien technology and mystical artifacts, which amplify his abilities and allow him to manipulate cosmic forces. He also almost brought in the end of reality in one of the greatest stories – Infinity Gauntlet.

9. Dormammu

Dormammu is the ruler of the Dark Dimension, a mystical and chaotic realm outside the normal space-time continuum, and as such he is basically omnipotent. Dormammu has the ability to warp reality within his domain. This includes altering the laws of physics, creating or destroying matter, and manipulating space and time to suit his needs.

His powers however come with a massive caveat, he is only omnipotent while inside the Dark Dimension, which explains why he ranked so low on this top 10 list.

8. Death

Lady Death

Death is a cosmic entity personifying the concept of mortality and as such she has influence over the cosmos, with the power to control and manipulate the fate of living beings. Her decisions can impact entire worlds and civilizations, as she governs the ultimate end of all life.

In certain storylines, Death has shown the ability to influence reality and the fabric of existence. Her involvement in cosmic events often leads to dramatic shifts in the balance of power and the course of the universe’s fate.

7. Mephisto

While Mephisto has limited influence on Earth-616, do not be fooled by his status as a mere Demon Lord. : Mephisto resides in a dimension known as Hell or the Infernal Dimension, which is separate from the normal Marvel Universe. His influence extends across dimensions, allowing him to affect events on Earth and other realms. This interdimensional presence gives him cosmic-level reach and impact.

6. Phoenix / Phoenix Force

The Phoenix Force is a primordial cosmic entity that embodies the concept of creation and destruction. It is one of the oldest and most fundamental forces in the universe, representing the cyclical nature of existence and the balance between life and death.

The Phoenix Force possesses near-limitless power. It can generate and control vast amounts of energy, manipulate matter at a molecular level, and create or annihilate life. This level of power allows it to challenge and overpower even the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe. Phoenix Force needs a host to act through it, and characters that are usually chosen for example Jean Grey and Namor usually see their abilities go haywire.

5. Celestials

Celestials possess near-godlike strength and abilities. They are capable of manipulating cosmic energies, altering the fundamental forces of the universe, and wielding power on a planetary or even galactic scale. Their abilities include energy projection, matter manipulation, and cosmic awareness.

Usually, bad times are ahead of Marvel Universe when Celestials appear as it’s extremely difficult to fight them so their place on this list is deserved.

4. One Above All

One Above All is basically the creator of everything and everyone in the Marvel Universe, he is the representation of writers and artists (specifically Jack Kirby) in order to signify his involvement with all.

The One Above All is the ultimate creator and ruler of the Marvel Multiverse. This entity is considered to be the highest and most powerful force in existence, transcending all other cosmic beings and entities, so it’s quite unclear what he is doing in the fourth place. Definitely not the ranking we agree with.

3. Living Tribunal

The Living Tribunal is one of the most powerful entities in the Marvel Universe, wielding authority over all aspects of existence. It is responsible for maintaining balance and order across the Multiverse, ensuring that no single force or entity becomes too dominant or disrupts the equilibrium.

Unlike beings who operate within a single universe or dimension, the Living Tribunal’s influence extends across the entire Marvel Multiverse. Living Tribunal was created by One Above All and the character is provenly less powerful than its creator. The reason why Living Tribunal ranked higher than TOAA is likely that it represents a bigger threat to the Multiverse than its creator.

2. The Beyonder

The Beyonder originates from beyond the known Multiverse, making him an entity from a higher plane of existence. His origin in the “Beyond Realm” grants him powers and perspective far beyond that of typical cosmic beings within the Marvel Universe.

Due to Beyonder’s near-omnipotent powers and instability, it’s safe to say that this ranking is somewhat valid.

1. Galactus

Galactus is a giant cosmic entity, who devours entire worlds and wields Power Cosmic, which basically gives him near-omnipotent powers, and yet, I don’t perceive him as the biggest threat overall. But I can easily see why others might see him that way.

As one of the fundamental beings of the Marvel Universe, Galactus is a cosmic entity that embodies the concept of universal balance. He exists as an integral part of the cosmos and his very nature is tied to the equilibrium of the universe. His existence and actions are fundamental to cosmic order. So even if he devours your homeworld, it’s just balance nothing to be mad about.
