Fans Rank 10 Wisest Characters in the MCU

As the largest cinematic universe in history, MCU has quite a lot of characters from all walks of life. Some characters however are wiser than others and this is what MCU fans gathered on Ranker to determine – who is the wisest of them all. From Thanos who sought the hard way to solve some of the universe’s most pressing problems, to Vision who can be considered artificial intelligence, let’s see who is the wisest.
10. Thor
Thor is often on the receiving end of jokes targeted toward his intelligence, but you can’t be worthy of the Asgardian Kingdom and Mjolnir if you are not wise. Thor strives to be just, wise, and live a good life, and the proof that he is one of the wisest characters is literally in the fact that he is worthy of his hammer. His character arc has seen ups and downs, and most of the fans hated how he was treated during ‘Love and Thunder’ but it’s undeniable that fans aptly recognized that his character is much wiser than the writers are showcasing him to be.
9. Iron Man
Putting Iron Man aka Tony Stark in the top 10 is not something I agree with. Intelligence should be confused with wisdom. Stark is one of the smartest characters in the comics but he is not necessarily wise, at least as far as the majority of his appearances go. Intelligence is creating Ultron – wisdom is knowing that he shouldn’t be created.
Still, wisdom comes with mistakes, and Iron Man made a lot of mistakes in the MCU, ultimately learning from them.
8. Peggy Carter
Peggy Carter simply doesn’t take no for an answer and never settles on compromising if it’s not the right thing to do. She’s like iron, she will break before she bends, and that’s not something you would conventionally call wise, but like Iron Man before her, Carter gets things done – the right way.
7. Captain America
Rogers has seen the world in two vastly different states, he grew up in a completely different world and once he found himself “in the future” he was wise enough to adapt instead of trying to change the way things were. Rogers puts morals, courage, and justice as his leading principles in life, knowing that shortcuts ultimately get you nowhere.
6. Nick Fury
Fury should be much higher on this list. Why? Beacuse he is always prepared. ‘Secret Invasion’ showcased him in a somewhat bad light, but he ultimately proved once more that even when he is severely stressed and traumatized he gets s*** done. Fury is almost never the smartest or the most powerful person in the room but he is wise enough to know that he needs to surround himself with powerful and intelligent people. This is why, in my opinion, the man should be in the top 3.
5. Odin
Odin has the wisdom of the ages, it’s impossible not to live as long as he did, conquer the worlds he did, and not to make mistakes. Through those mistakes, Odin learned that some things simply can’t be fought. It’s undeniable that Odin belongs to this list, considering that literal wisdom is one of his superpowers.
4. Howard Stark
You can use the same rationale for Howard Stark as for Iron Man for why he shouldn’t be on this list at all, still, Howard placed so high because he was wise enough to recognize that Tony is his greatest creation.
3. King T’Chaka
To create prosperity for your people, you need to make some hard choices. Wakanda being one of the most advanced civilizations means that T’Chaka had to make some really hard and wise choices. That’s sort of his trademark, and why he placed so highly on this list.
2. Vision
Life is precious to him. As a being with a unique origin, he’s dedicated to protecting life on Earth, using his advanced abilities for this purpose, even if it means sacrificing himself. Vision is wise enough to recognize that he is not superior to humans, without humans there would be no Vision. I don’t agree that he should be so high, but he is definitely one of the wisest characters.
1. The Ancient One
The Ancient One’s origin, powers, and motivations are mostly shrouded in mystery. She’s been protecting Earth as Sorcerer Supreme for centuries. The Ancient One understands that the unseen is just as important as the visible. Her power largely comes from the unknown, and while drawing from the Dark Dimension for longevity is morally questionable, she possesses a deep awareness of things.
