Fans Rank 10 Worst Star Wars Live-Action Characters

Share:

Star Wars is a massive franchise that spans hundreds of characters across a variety of media such as movies, live-action shows, games, books, graphic novels, animated series, etc, so this is why determining who is the worst is quite the challenge.

Even in places such as Ranker, looking at the lists it’s difficult to see who is “the most hated” based on rankings alone since 200 or so last places are largely irrelevant characters that are not unnecessarily unpopular but simply aren’t known enough to get more votes. We used a different approach and decided to focus only on the first 100 characters and then choose the lowest-ranking live-action characters from that list. Let’s see who is the least popular in the Star Wars franchise.

10. Saw Gerrera

Saw Gerrera is known for his extreme tactics and willingness to use violence and terrorism to achieve his goals. He often crosses moral and ethical lines that most Rebel leaders do not, using brutal and uncompromising methods against both the Galactic Empire and anyone he perceives as an enemy. Many fans find his ruthlessness unsettling and hard to sympathize with.

9. Biggs Darklighter

Biggs has very limited screen time in the original Star Wars film, ‘A New Hope’. Although he is established as one of Luke Skywalker’s closest friends from Tatooine, most of his scenes were cut from the final version of the film. This lack of presence on screen means that many viewers do not form a strong attachment to him, and he comes across as a minor, almost forgettable character.

8. Tusken Raiders

Tusken Raiders are frequently depicted as violent aggressors who attack without provocation. In ‘A New Hope,’ they ambush Luke Skywalker while he’s searching for R2-D2, and in ‘The Phantom Menace,’ they shoot at podracers during the Boonta Eve Classic. The most infamous example is their brutal attack on Anakin Skywalker’s mother, Shmi, which leads to her death in ‘Attack of the Clones. ‘These portrayals have established the Tuskens as ruthless, making them less sympathetic to some fans.

7. Rey

One of the most common criticisms of Rey is that she is perceived as a “Mary Sue” — a term used in fan fiction and criticism to describe a character who is seemingly perfect, overly competent, and without flaws. Critics argue that Rey masters the Force too quickly, can pilot the Millennium Falcon expertly, and defeats experienced opponents like Kylo Ren with little training. This perception led some fans to feel that her character lacks development, struggle, and reliability.

6. Wampa

The Wampa appears only briefly in ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and has a relatively minor role in the film. It serves primarily as a plot device to create danger and tension early on, showing Luke Skywalker’s vulnerability and giving him a moment to demonstrate his growing mastery of the Force.

5. Mon Mothma

Mon Mothma’s role in the Star Wars is deeply tied to political maneuvering and strategy. For fans who are less interested in the political aspects of Star Wars and prefer action-oriented or character-driven stories, her presence might be completely uninteresting and might be seen as a foreboding of the “boring” part of the story. This one was completely expected.

4. Finn

Well, this one is a bit shocking but it has a perfectly good explanation. Finn was introduced with an interesting backstory as a former stormtrooper who defects from the First Order. Many fans were excited about the potential of him being a Jedi. However, some feel that his character arc did not fully develop or achieve its potential. His storyline was seen as inconsistent and not as impactful as it could have been. Even John Boyega who portrayed Finn agreed as much.

8. Ezra Bridger

Ezra debuted in a live-action portion of Star Wars relatively recently with the release of ‘Ahsoka,’ but besides that, he has a long history in the franchise. So, why is he here? Some fans felt that Ezra’s character development was uneven throughout the series. While he does grow and mature, certain plot points and decisions can seem inconsistent or less satisfying compared to the development of other characters in the show.

2. Fennec Shand

While Fennec Shand has been featured prominently in ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘The Book of Boba Fett,’ her screen time is still limited compared to iconic characters like Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader. This limits the opportunities for fans to become deeply invested in her character. While she is well-executed, her archetype might not stand out as much compared to more unique or iconic roles within the franchise.

1. Jek Porkins

Jek Porkins is not given much background or development. He is introduced quickly as a member of the Red Squadron, and his death occurs shortly after. This lack of character depth contributes to his lower profile among fans. This is likely why he made the “top 10” shortlist.
