Whether you like it or not, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is one of the most significant projects in the history of cinema. While it didn’t revolutionize the industry, it has played a crucial role in the evolution of modern filmmaking, and its influence and importance are undeniable.

The MCU has generally produced solid or good films, but there have been some missteps, including a few major flops. One such mid-tier flop is the now largely forgotten Eternals movie. Initially intended to be a major project, Eternals has since faded into obscurity, often mentioned only in passing—and for good reason.

There are numerous issues with Eternals as a movie, but one scene stands out as particularly disliked by MCU fans. This scene continues to be roasted on social media years after the movie’s premiere. In the following sections, we will reveal which scene it is and why fans despise it so much.

The scene in question is the sex scene between Ikaris and Sersi, which marks the first true sex scene in an MCU movie. While previous scenes, like those in Iron Man, were less explicit, this scene is also not very graphic. Although it’s neither explicit nor vulgar, fans still consider it unnecessary and poorly executed. The consensus among fans is:

Ah, yes the sex scene that was supposed to convince that they were in love, even though their relationship was positively lackluster.

Also having sex in the sand is a terrible idea. “It’s course and it’s rough and it gets everywhere.” Sure you could argue that they’re highly sophisticated flesh robots so it didn’t really matter to them. But the idea of sand going up the rear is enough to make it comedic rather than sexy.

There was a sex scene in this movie? Huh, must have been in one of the parts where I fell asleep.

druig and makkari had WAY more chemistry than ikaris and sersi ever did anyway.

Ultimately, the scene aimed to depict the depth and sincerity of their relationship, but it fell short, revealing their bond as shallow and poorly portrayed.
