We all cherish the original Star Wars trilogy. George Lucas’s groundbreaking vision defined the space opera genre and delivered epic films that continue to resonate with fans today. However, when the Prequel Trilogy debuted, the reception was quite different.

While Revenge of the Sith ultimately satisfied many fans, Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace faced a wave of criticism upon its release.

The Prequel Trilogy struggled to find love at first, but over time, its quality has been reassessed, and today, many fans have come to appreciate these films—especially in light of the Sequel Trilogy’s shortcomings.

Building on this nostalgia, a fan recently revisited the Revenge of the Sith video game, which was a common practice back when each film had its own video game tie-in.

This game reveals an alternative ending that may not fit neatly within the established canon, but it certainly presents an intriguing “What If…?” scenario!

The Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith video game was released on May 5, 2005, just ten days before the film’s official premiere. This early release effectively revealed the entire plot to players, including 12 minutes of cutscenes from the movie, a bold move that was unprecedented at the time and would be nearly unimaginable today.

The game garnered mixed to positive reviews; while it may not be considered one of the best Star Wars games ever, it offered a solid experience.

Although the game largely adheres to the film’s storyline and George Lucas’s canon, it also includes an alternative ending. You can check it out in the video below:

In this alternative ending, Anakin emerges victorious. The scene unfolds similarly to the film, but Obi-Wan’s warning about the “high ground” falls flat as Anakin leaps over and behind him, ultimately defeating him and sending him tumbling near the lava river on Mustafar.

Following his victory, Anakin betrays his master, Darth Sidious, in accordance with Sith tradition, and claims sole rule over the Galaxy and the Empire.

Darth Vader’s triumph occurs in a surprising and intriguing manner, making this alternate conclusion particularly captivating.

While it diverges entirely from the canon established in the Original Trilogy, it presents an engaging “What If…?” scenario worth exploring if Star Wars ever chooses to take that route.
