Superman is undeniably one of the greatest, most beloved, and most powerful comic book characters of all time. Since his debut in 1938, he has remained a cornerstone of DC Comics. Throughout his storied history, Superman has largely embodied the ideals of heroism, his name synonymous with superheroism itself.

On-screen portrayals of Superman have ranged from campy to profoundly dark, showcasing the character’s versatility. Recently leaked filming photos suggest that Gunn is opting for a more classic approach, a sentiment confirmed by another leaked video.

It’s unclear if Gunn is attempting Snyder’s darker Superman concept, but it appears the new Superman will draw heavily from Reeve’s era. This promises an exciting clash of two distinct time periods: Reeve’s classic and somewhat campy interpretation with Gunn’s modern cinematic approach.

The speculation arises from a newly released filming video on Twitter, suggesting that classic Superman and Lois Lane scenes reminiscent of Reeve’s Superman films will be featured. Here’s the video:

This video doesn’t show much, but its scene evokes the vibe of iconic moments from Reeve’s era. Coupled with another set leak hinting at Superman saving a cat from a tree, it suggests a return to a classic storytelling style.

Regardless of the outcome, Gunn’s Superman promises to offer a fresh take. While paying homage to Reeve’s era, Gunn’s modern approach to superhero movies ensures it will be innovative and unique.

Some commentators and fans are already favorably comparing Corenswet’s Superman to Cavill’s portrayal, anticipating a more colorful and vibrant interpretation compared to Snyder’s darker version. In Snyder’s DCEU, Superman famously broke his own rule of not killing, a controversial decision that divided fans.

The film is slated for release in 2025, and much more information is expected to emerge with the release of the first trailer, likely later this year. Until then, we’ll continue to report on set leaks as they come in, so stay tuned!
