Dave Filoni Once Cleared up Why ‘The Clone Wars’ Is Superior To Other Star Wars Entries

Plenty of additional shows, both animated and live-action joined the Star Wars franchise since the release of ‘The Clone Wars,’ but the show still remains a fan-favorite installment. The show ran for seven seasons, but for some characters, the journey continues to this day in subsequent projects.

The initial seasons of “The Clone Wars” were met with mixed to positive reviews. Critics appreciated the expansion of the Star Wars universe and its exploration of new characters and storylines. As the series progressed, it gained more acclaim for its character development, storytelling depth, and exploration of moral themes within the Star Wars galaxy.

One of the most praised aspects of the show was, however, animation. The animation style evolved over the seasons and was generally well-received for its improvement and ability to convey action and emotion effectively. It was exactly what Dave Filoni explained was the reason why the show was successful.

We were able to stylize things more. You know, we were able to push the visual look of things. You see it most notably in the human characters.

The interview took place 9 years ago, but it’s still relevant in the context of the Star Wars franchise today, especially when some of the recent projects were met with mixed-to-bad reviews. Fans are ready for Star Wars to once again push the limits while remaining faithful to the tradition of the Star Wars franchise.

I wanted to kind of hit in the middle with our Clone Wars and (to) tie it into the tradition of Star Wars.

The latest animated Star Wars project concluded just a few weeks ago, namely ‘Tales of the Empire’ and ‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ which has released its final season.

We know that the future does bring more animated projects, recently we’ve learned via a job posting on Lucasfilm’s official site that something new is in development, but so far details remain unknown. Hopefully, they learned a thing or two from Filoni!
