’28 Years Later’ is an upcoming post-apocalyptic horror film directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland. It’s the third film in the ’28 Days Later’ series, starring Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, and Cillian Murphy, who also serves as an executive producer.
Unlike the previous films, this one isn’t produced by 20th Century Studios. It’s a co-production between Columbia Pictures, British Film Institute, Decibel Films, and DNA Films. The film is set to be released on June 20, 2025, and was shot on an iPhone along with its sequel, ’28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple’.
The trailer for the movie was recently released, showcasing only bits and pieces of the atmosphere we can expect, as well as giving us a teaser of the Bone Temple.
The cast of ’28 Years Later’ includes Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Jamie, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, and Cillian Murphy reprising his role as Jim. Erin Kellyman and Edvin Ryding also star, with Ryding playing E. Sundqvist.
The overall plot is still under wraps but the synopsis states the following:
Sometime after the events of 28 Weeks Later, the Rage Virus has returned, and a group of survivors must survive in a world ravaged by hordes of the infected
In April 2024, Nia DaCosta began talks to direct the second film in the new ’28 Days Later’ trilogy, with Boyle, Garland, and others as producers.
